Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday underscored the government’s push to connect India’s youth with global opportunities, asserting that trade and mobility agreements with multiple countries are opening new pathways for employment, skills, and international exposure.

Addressing the government’s 18th Rozgar Mela through a virtual platform, the Prime Minister presided over the distribution of appointment letters to nearly 61,000 newly recruited government employees across 45 locations nationwide.

He described the occasion as part of a sustained national effort to empower young Indians and integrate them into a rapidly transforming economy.

Youth at the Centre of India’s Global Engagement

Highlighting India’s demographic advantage, Modi said the country is among the youngest nations in the world, and harnessing this “youth power” is central to the government’s development strategy.

“It is the continuous effort of our government to ensure that new opportunities are created for India’s youth—both within the country and beyond,” he said.

Modi noted that India is actively signing trade and mobility agreements with several nations, adding that these arrangements are directly translating into fresh avenues for employment and professional growth.

The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a crucial moment, with the European Union and India nearing the finalisation of a long-anticipated trade agreement.

He also pointed to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement signed between India and the United Kingdom in July last year as an example of how such partnerships can benefit Indian workers and professionals.

Rising Global Trust, Rising Investment

Modi also emphasised the surge in foreign direct investment (FDI) as a reflection of growing global confidence in India’s economic trajectory.

“The way the world’s trust in India is increasing today is creating countless new possibilities for our youth,” he said, adding that India is the only major global economy to have doubled its Gross Domestic Product within a decade.

He noted that more than 100 countries are now investing in India, and that FDI inflows over the past decade have been two-and-a-half times higher than those received in the ten years before 2014.

According to Modi, this scale of foreign investment directly translates into job creation and expanded employment prospects for young Indians.

“More foreign investment means more industries, more services, and countless new employment opportunities for the youth of India,” he said.

Message to New Government Recruits

Turning to the newly appointed government employees, Modi urged them to see themselves as agents of change and reform at the grassroots level.

He said that improving ease of living and ease of doing business is not just about policy decisions taken in New Delhi, but also about the intent and conduct of officials working at the local level.

He encouraged the recruits to introduce small but meaningful reforms in their daily work, stressing that even incremental improvements can significantly enhance public trust in governance.

Adapting to Change, Serving Citizens

The Prime Minister also highlighted the need for continuous learning in an era of fast-evolving technology.

He said that as the country’s priorities change rapidly, government servants must constantly upgrade their skills and outlook.

“In this age of rapid technological change, the needs of the nation are changing just as fast. You must keep upgrading yourselves along with these changes,” he said.

Reiterating his philosophy of public service, Modi reminded employees that hierarchy should never overshadow service.
“Whether it is the Prime Minister or the smallest government servant, we are all servants of the people,” he said, invoking the guiding principle of ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’—the citizen is God.

Concluding his address, Modi called upon the recruits to uphold integrity, adaptability, and empathy, asserting that responsive and citizen-centric governance is the cornerstone of India’s growth story.
