Just hours after the tragic terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Srinagar on Tuesday evening to oversee the security response, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, vowed that those responsible for the “heinous act” would face the full force of justice.

Before his departure, Shah briefed the Prime Minister via video conference and held a high-level meeting with security and intelligence officials. He is scheduled to visit the site of the attack on Wednesday morning.

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi issued a strong condemnation of the attack.

“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. My heartfelt condolences go to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I pray for the swift recovery of those injured.

The perpetrators of this brutal act will not be spared. Justice will be served. Their evil designs will never succeed — our determination to eliminate terrorism is unwavering and will only grow stronger.”

Home Minister Shah also expressed deep grief over the incident.

“Anguished by the terror attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and the injured,” he said.

Reaffirming the government’s resolve, Shah added:

“Those involved in this cowardly act will be hunted down and dealt with in the harshest possible manner. I have already briefed the Hon’ble Prime Minister and will be holding an emergency security review meeting in Srinagar.”

Security Heightened Across Jammu and Kashmir

In response to the attack, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF) have intensified their operations across Jammu and Kashmir. Additional personnel have been deployed at 15 strategic locations to reinforce law and order and prevent any further incidents.

Lt Governor: “Perpetrators Will Pay a Heavy Price”

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, expressing the collective grief and fury of the nation, stated that security forces have already launched counter-terror operations to track down and eliminate those responsible.

“Anti-terror operations are underway to neutralise the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam incident. The entire nation is outraged, and the blood of our brave forces is boiling. I assure the country that those behind this despicable attack will pay a very heavy price. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families,” Sinha said in a post on X.

As investigations continue and security forces comb the region, the government’s message is clear: India will not rest until justice is served and those behind the Pahalgam terror attack are held accountable.
