India Accelerates AI Ambitions at AI Impact Summit 2026; Massive Investments and Global Partnerships Announced
New Delhi: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by long queues and heavy crowds on the first day of the summit.
He informed that a dedicated “war room” has now been set up to manage arrangements more efficiently.
India is moving swiftly toward becoming a major global power in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Significant investments in this sector are expected to improve services across industries substantially.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 has so far proven highly significant for the country. After the first two days, several major announcements have been made regarding the expansion of the AI sector.
Along with startups, leading Indian corporations have declared substantial investments and strategic collaborations in AI.
Experts believe that the large-scale investments in AI will benefit healthcare, education, agriculture, technology, innovation, and several other sectors.
Infosys Announces Major AI Partnership
Amid the summit, Indian IT giant Infosys announced a strategic partnership with American AI company Anthropic.
Under this collaboration, the two companies will develop and deliver advanced AI solutions for key sectors such as software, manufacturing, financial services, and telecommunications.
Anthropic’s cloud-based AI models will be integrated with Infosys’ AI platform. The partnership has three major objectives:
- Automating complex workflows.
- Accelerating and enhancing software development.
- Developing agentic AI solutions.
This collaboration reflects the growing interest of leading global technology companies in working within India’s AI ecosystem.
AI to Benefit Healthcare and Other Sectors
Dr. V.K. Paul, Member of NITI Aayog, stated that advancements in AI will benefit multiple sectors across the country.
While major corporations are now investing heavily in AI, he emphasized that the healthcare sector is likely to see the most significant impact.
AI tools will improve the quality of treatment and strengthen the healthcare system. Preventive healthcare measures will become more effective, and public health services will gain renewed momentum.
AI will serve as a major support system for doctors and public health initiatives. It will expand access to medical care and reduce treatment costs.
India, he said, has both the opportunity and the human resource strength to emerge as a global leader in AI-driven healthcare.
Adani Group to Invest $100 Billion by 2035
Among the companies establishing a strong presence in the AI sector, the Adani Group stands out. The conglomerate has announced plans to invest $100 billion (approximately ₹9 lakh crore) in AI by 2035.
The investment will primarily be directed toward building AI data centers powered entirely by renewable energy.
The primary objective of this investment is to transform India from merely a consumer of technology into a nation that develops and exports AI technologies globally.
In simple terms, the goal is to position India as a global leader in the AI race.
This investment is expected not only to expand research opportunities in the country but also to create significant employment prospects for young professionals.
Opportunities for Other Companies
The Adani Group has also stated that it is in discussions with other companies interested in establishing large-scale campuses across India.
Additionally, the group is expanding its collaboration with Flipkart to develop a second AI data center to support high-performance AI workloads and next-generation digital commerce.
These developments clearly indicate that companies working in the AI space will find substantial new opportunities in India’s rapidly growing AI ecosystem.
