India Boosts Arms Support to Armenia Amid Growing Pakistan-Turkey-Azerbaijan Axis

In a strategic move following heightened tensions with Pakistan, India is reportedly fast-tracking military exports to Armenia, signaling a firm response to the emerging alliance between Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan — a trio increasingly seen as acting against Indian interests.

Sources indicate that India is preparing to dispatch a second consignment of Akash-1S surface-to-air missile systems to Armenia, along with additional defence equipment.

The growing defence cooperation between New Delhi and Yerevan, which has been steadily progressing since 2020, is now being viewed as a direct counter to the pro-Pakistan stance of Azerbaijan and its allies.

Azerbaijan, which remains locked in conflict with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, is closely aligned with Turkey and Pakistan.

Analysts suggest that India’s support to Armenia not only strengthens a strategic partner but also weakens Azerbaijan’s position, without the need for direct military confrontation.

Strengthening Anti-India Alliance

Following India’s recent Operation Sindoor — a high-profile military action targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) — the trilateral partnership between Islamabad, Ankara, and Baku appears to be intensifying.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is currently on a multi-nation diplomatic tour and is expected to arrive in Azerbaijan after completing his visit to Iran.

Notably, reports suggest that a key trilateral summit involving Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan may take place in the strategic Lachin corridor, which links Azerbaijan with Armenia, within the next 48 hours.

The leaders are expected to announce coordinated strategies across various sectors, including defence.

Adding to the momentum, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is also scheduled to visit Azerbaijan, further cementing the deepening ties between the three nations.

Sharif’s itinerary reflects a carefully orchestrated tour — beginning in Turkey, moving through Iran and Azerbaijan, and ending in Tajikistan — all taking place shortly after India’s military strikes under Operation Sindoor.

The operation dealt a serious blow to terrorist networks in Pakistan and PoK, prompting Islamabad and its allies to recalibrate their regional strategy.

India’s renewed defence push towards Armenia is now seen as both a geopolitical signal and a tactical manoeuvre — aligning with an ally while simultaneously isolating adversaries in the region.
