In the wake of rising tensions and continuous military escalation in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran and Israel, the Indian Embassy in Tehran has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of Indian citizens currently residing in Iran’s capital. On Tuesday, the Embassy issued a critical advisory and confirmed that over 110 Indian students have been safely evacuated from Tehran and relocated to neighboring Armenia.

The evacuation was executed through logistical arrangements made by the Embassy, which facilitated the students’ safe passage across the Armenia-Iran border. This strategic relocation was carried out as a precautionary measure in response to the deteriorating security environment in Tehran, following several days of sustained missile attacks and airstrikes between Iran and Israel.

In a public update posted on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian mission in Iran advised all Indian nationals, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) who are currently in Tehran and have the means to do so, to immediately relocate to safer areas outside the city using their resources. The advisory emphasized that this move is crucial given the rapidly changing ground situation and the potential risks to civilian safety.

“All Indian nationals and PIOs who can move out of Tehran using their own resources are advised to move to a safe location outside the City,” the Embassy posted.

The Embassy further appealed to all Indian citizens currently in Tehran who have not yet contacted the mission to get in touch immediately and share their current location and active contact details. This outreach is aimed at ensuring the Embassy can maintain real-time communication and offer assistance if needed.

⚠️ “All Indian Nationals who are in Tehran and not in touch with the Embassy are requested to contact the Embassy of India in Tehran immediately and provide their Location and Contact numbers,” another message read.

To facilitate this communication, the Embassy provided three emergency contact numbers for Indian nationals:

  • +98 901 014 4557
  • +98 912 810 9115
  • +98 912 810 9109

These lines are operational for direct assistance and updates regarding evacuation or emergency protocols.

This advisory and evacuation effort came shortly after a strong international warning was issued by former US President Donald Trump, who urged an immediate evacuation of Tehran, citing the escalating violence and unpredictability of the situation.

Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has activated 24×7 control rooms in both Iran and Israel to manage the ongoing crisis and provide continuous support to Indian citizens in the conflict-affected regions. According to MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the control rooms are functioning around the clock to monitor developments and respond to any emergencies involving Indian nationals.

The airspace over parts of Iran and Israel remains volatile as the military confrontation between the two nations entered its fifth consecutive day, prompting diplomatic missions worldwide to issue advisories and begin evacuation processes.

The Indian government continues to closely monitor the situation and is expected to issue further instructions based on how the conflict evolves in the coming days. Citizens are urged to remain alert, avoid non-essential travel, and remain in close contact with Indian authorities abroad.
