Lucknow: On the opening day of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature’s winter session on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a sharp, indirect attack on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, without naming him.

Referring to the codeine-based cough syrup case, the Chief Minister remarked that the statements being made by the SP chief were reminiscent of the line:

“I kept repeating the same mistake—there was dust on my own face, yet I kept cleaning the mirror.”

By this, he implied that photographs linking certain mafias with the SP leadership point towards the likelihood that illegal financial dealings involving the SP chief would eventually come to light.

“Let the investigation proceed,” Yogi said. “Everything will become clear—truth will be separated from falsehood.”

Early Probe Reveals Links Between Accused and SP:
Speaking to the media ahead of the commencement of the winter session, Chief Minister Adityanath stated that it is widely known that almost every mafia operating in the state has, at some point, had links with the Samajwadi Party.

He said preliminary investigations have revealed that some of the accused arrested in actions by the STF or the Uttar Pradesh Police had connections with the SP.

The Chief Minister further alleged that the Samajwadi Party, already notorious and discredited for its style of functioning, would once again see its involvement exposed as the investigation progresses.

Winter Session to Continue Till the 24th:
Yogi Adityanath also informed that during the session, an important discussion would be held to mark the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram,” and to pay tribute to its composer, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

He noted that the date marking the foundation of Uttar Pradesh coincides with the date on which “Vande Mataram” was accorded recognition under the Constitution, making the discussion in the Legislature particularly significant.
