IRGC Spokesperson Killed Amid Intensifying US-Israel–Iran Conflict

Iranian state media reported on Friday that Ali Mohammad Naini, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been killed, as tensions between Iran and the US-Israel alliance continue to shake the Gulf region.

The IRGC functions as a key branch of Iran’s military, operating across multiple domains as a central pillar of the nation’s armed forces.

According to official reports, Naini died in airstrikes allegedly carried out by US and Israeli forces.

A statement published on the Guards’ Sepah News platform, and cited by AFP, described his death as occurring in a “cowardly and criminal terrorist strike” conducted at dawn by what it called the American-Zionist front.

His death came shortly after he made strong public statements criticizing the US and Israel.

In remarks carried by Fars News Agency, Naini had emphasized that Iran’s missile program was fully operational, even during wartime, and that production continued without disruption or concern.

He further asserted that Iran’s missile capabilities had reached peak efficiency, warning adversaries of unexpected developments ahead. He added that as the conflict unfolds, operations would grow increasingly sophisticated and intense.

Naini’s killing marks the fourth significant loss for Iran’s political and military leadership within a week.

Earlier, prominent figures, including Ali Larijani, Gholamreza Soleimani, and intelligence chief Esmail Khatib, were also reported killed in targeted strikes.

The ongoing exchange of missiles and drones, which escalated following US-Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28, has intensified further this week.

Israel allegedly struck the South Pars gas field, while Iran retaliated by targeting Qatar’s Ras Laffan LNG facility, the largest of its kind globally.

Although Israel has not officially acknowledged the South Pars strike, US President Donald Trump attributed the operation to Israel and stated on social media that Iranian gas infrastructure would not face further attacks.

However, he warned that continued Iranian strikes on Qatar’s energy sites would trigger a severe US response, including the possible destruction of the entire gas field.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz signaled further operations, hinting at additional “surprises.”

He previously announced the killing of Iran’s intelligence minister Esmail Khatib in an earlier air raid, part of what appears to be a broader strategy aimed at dismantling Iran’s leadership structure.

Just days earlier, Israel had also eliminated senior Iranian figures, including top security official Ali Larijani and Basij paramilitary commander General Gholamreza Soleimani.
