Jasprit Bumrah Joins Lord’s Honours Board with Sensational Five-Wicket Haul in 3rd Test Against England

India’s pace spearhead #JaspritBumrah etched his name into cricketing folklore on Day 2 of the #Lord’sTest during the third Test between India and England.
With a brilliant five-wicket haul, Bumrah not only led India’s bowling charge but also achieved the rare and prestigious feat of having his name inscribed on the #LordsHonoursBoard—a dream milestone for any cricketer.
The 30-year-old fast bowler delivered a masterclass in disciplined and intelligent fast bowling, finishing with impressive figures of 5 for 74. Drawing upon his experiences from previous tours, particularly the 2021 visit to England, Bumrah showcased why he remains one of the world’s most lethal pacers.
He began his damage early in the morning session, removing England captain #BenStokes for a well-made 44. From there, he stepped up when it mattered the most, claiming the prized wicket of #JoeRoot, who had already reached a commanding century (104).
He then delivered a body blow to England’s lower order by dismissing #ChrisWoakes for a duck, followed by scalping #BrydonCarse—who had added a valuable half-century—and finally wrapped up his five-wicket haul by sending #JofraArcher back to the pavilion.
Past Lessons, Present Glory
Speaking to reporters after stumps on Day 2, Bumrah said that adapting his approach based on past experiences proved crucial to his success.

“I thought about the slope on the last tour, and how it didn’t help me. My biggest learning was to stop overthinking it. This time, I ignored it and that helped,” he shared. “In these hot conditions, it’s all about #maximisingthenewball. That’s been the major difference compared to last time.”

He added that it wasn’t about explosive pace or sheer youth anymore but about contributing effectively with experience and skill.

“To be honest, I was tired. I can’t jump around like a 21-year-old,” he smiled. “But contributing like this, and then seeing my name on the #HonoursBoard, it’s a feeling that makes everything worth it. It’s something I’ll proudly share with my son when he’s grown up.”

The presser turned jovial when a journalist’s phone rang mid-conversation. Bumrah light-heartedly remarked, “Somebody’s wife is calling. But I will not pick it up,” drawing laughter across the media room.
A Sentimental Return to the Lord’s
Looking back, Bumrah also reminisced about India’s memorable victory at Lord’s during the 2021 England tour, which remains etched in his memory, not just as a bowler but as an all-round contributor.

“The most special Test for me is still the one from 2021,” he said. “When #ShamiBhai and I stitched that batting partnership to turn the match around, it became unforgettable. I only took 3 or 4 wickets in that game, but the memory is special because we were behind and came back to win by bowling them out in just 60 overs. #MemoriesMatter more to me than stats.”

In that 2021 match, Bumrah was dismissed for a duck and didn’t take a wicket in the first innings. However, his game-changing unbeaten 89-run partnership with Shami (he scored 34 off 64 balls, while Shami blasted 56 off 70) flipped the momentum.
He followed that up with figures of 3 for 33 in the second innings, helping India pull off a stunning 151-run victory—one of the finest Test wins abroad in recent memory.
England Bowled Out for 387 on Day 2

Thanks to Bumrah’s fiery spell and supporting acts from the rest of the bowling unit, England were eventually dismissed for 387 runs by the end of Day 2 in the ongoing Test match.
While Joe Root’s century and Carse’s gritty half-century added resistance, it was Bumrah’s skillful dismantling of the middle and lower order that ensured India remained in the contest.
Bumrah’s latest five-for not only adds another chapter to his glittering career but also marks a significant personal and professional milestone. Becoming part of the #LordsLegacy is an achievement reserved for cricket’s elite, and Jasprit Bumrah has now firmly etched his name into that legendary space.
