An FIR has been registered at Sector 126 Police Station in Noida against Shivanshu Rajput, a 2019-batch IPS officer posted with the State Crime Record Bureau in Bengaluru, along with six of his relatives and associates, following a complaint by his wife, Dr Kriti Singh, a practicing doctor residing in Jaypee Wishtown, Noida.

According to the FIR, the couple married in December 2021 and have a young son.

Dr Singh alleged that since the marriage, she has faced incessant harassment, first by her husband and then by his family members, for dowry and enduring mental cruelty.

Her complaint states that her family spent over ₹2 crore on the wedding, including expensive jewelry, yet demands for further dowry allegedly continued.

The complainant further accused Rajput of having extramarital relationships and of threatening to abandon her and their child when she confronted him, while his in-laws reportedly joined in the harassment.

The FIR names Rajput, his father, mother, brother, sister-in-law and two other associates, and is registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (including sections 85, 115(2), 352, 351(2), 3(5), 316(2)) along with sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

In the latest development, the IPS officer has publicly denied the allegations and claimed that he is the victim of domestic violence himself, adding that he is willing to resign if even a single charge against him is proven.

Investigations are ongoing, and police have yet to record statements from the accused and other witnesses.
