The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday fixed June 6, 2024 as the next date of hearing in Krishna Janmbhoomi- Shahi Eidgah masjid title dispute case of Mathura, after the counsel for Eidgah, Mehmood Pracha made a request for adjournment citing the reason that he is an independent candidate in Rampur Lok Sabha seat and counting of votes is going on today.

In this backdrop, Pracha expressed his inability to address the court on Tuesday and made a request to fix the date after June 5.

However, the request of Pracha was strongly opposed by the Hindu side plaintiffs, who were present in the court as well as through video conferencing.

However, considering the ground mentioned in the application of Pracha, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain fixed June 6, 2024 as the next date of hearing.

Earlier on May 31, 2024, the Allahabad High Court had reserved its verdict in Krishna Janmbhoomi-Shahi Eidgah title dispute case after hearing counsel for Hindu side plaintiffs and counsels for Muslim side defendants – UP Sunni Central Waqf Boad and management committee of Shahi Masjid Eidgah at considerable length. The defendants have filed written statements (replies) against the 18 consolidated suits filed by Hindu side seeking removal of Shahi Eidgah masjid and its replacement by a temple.

However, subsequently, the court reopened hearing of the case and fixed June 4 for next hearing, after the counsel for Shahi Eidgah Masjid – Mehmood Pracha moved an application requesting that he be heard in the matter.

After this order, the Muslim side will get one more opportunity to challenge the maintainability of 18 consolidated suits filed by Hindu side plaintiffs seeking removal of Shahi Eidgah Masjid at Mathura and its replacement by a temple.
