‘Kumbhvani’ dedicated to Maha Kumbh launched by Akashvani
Prasar Bharati’s radio division, Akashvani, launched an FM channel, Kumbhvani, on Friday to provide comprehensive information about the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the channel at the Circuit House in Prayagraj during his city tour in preparation for the grand religious event.
Kumbhvani, an OTT-based FM channel, broadcasts on 103.5 MHz and will be on air from January 10 to February 26, operating daily from 5:55 am to 10:05 pm. The UP government stated that this initiative aims to ensure seamless communication of all relevant details about the Maha Kumbh to the public.
CM Adityanath expressed optimism that the channel would achieve widespread popularity, bringing the spiritual essence of the Maha Kumbh to people in remote areas who are unable to attend in person. He emphasized the channel’s role as a medium for disseminating information and fostering pride in Sanatan Dharma among the masses.
Highlighting the cultural significance of the Maha Kumbh, Adityanath described it as a monumental celebration of unity and spirituality, transcending divisions of caste, sect, and gender. He invited skeptics and critics to witness the Maha Kumbh, where millions gather in harmony to bathe in the sacred waters, showcasing the inclusive nature of Sanatan Dharma.
Adityanath also praised the role of Prasar Bharati and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the channel’s launch. Recalling his childhood, he shared memories of listening to Akashvani’s broadcasts of the Ramcharitmanas, which connected people to their cultural roots. Over the years, Prasar Bharati has adapted to technological advancements, introducing visual mediums like Doordarshan and innovative channels like Kumbhvani.
This special FM channel was previously launched during the Kumbh festivals in 2013 and 2019 and has once again been introduced for 2025 to extend its reach to far-flung areas. The channel will broadcast live coverage of daily events, religious narratives, and stories related to the Maha Kumbh, ensuring that even those in remote villages can experience its grandeur.
Adityanath also noted the growing interest among international visitors in exploring the spiritual depths of the Maha Kumbh. He commended Prasar Bharati for capturing the event’s essence and amplifying its message globally.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr. L. Murugan and other dignitaries attended the inauguration. Adityanath concluded by highlighting how media platforms like FM channels have become a preferred source of information for youth, expressing confidence in Kumbhvani’s success.
