The RG Kar Hospital and Medical College doctors are not ready to budge. Though most of the medical fraternity in the country are slowly returning to work and patients are being seen in the OPDs and other places, Kolkata doctors are still fuming.

Two things that have kept them away from work for more than 20 days now, was the remark of chief minister Manta Bannerjee which they term as a covert threat to them.
The CM said she has not taken any action against the doctors till now but she could, if she wants.
On their part, doctors are saying that they want to return to work but would not do so as long as the government does not take any concrete steps to assuage their hurt feelings.
The doctors feel disappointed with the government’s attitude.
They feel that the Mamta Banerjee government should take a justified approach to their demands.
Besides the brutal rape and murder of their colleague inside the hospital….a horrifying case as it was, it’s being dealt by the CBI which made its entry to the scene after the Kolkata High Court took suo moto cognizance of the heinous crime.
We doctors had demanded the resignation of the commissioner of police Vineet Goyal. Former principal Sandeep Ghosh has neither been arrested nor suspended. He is simply being questioned by the CBI and was being shunted from one place to another.
The culprits too have not been arrested.
On her part CM Mamta said, she undersood doctors have grievances but it was time when they need to go back to work because patients were suffereing.
All of them were not so rich to afford treatment at private health care centres.
As of now, the tug of war between the government of West Bengal and doctors in this volatile state was still going on even when the country is watching its outcome.
