Medical College Professor Arrested as Delhi Blast Probe Uncovers Expanding Doctor-Led Terror Network Across Three States

Hapur, UP: In a breakthrough in the doctor-terror network linked to the Delhi blast case, the Delhi Police Special Cell late Wednesday night arrested an assistant professor from a medical college in Hapur following an input tied to alleged mastermind Dr. Muzammil Gani.

At the same time, intelligence raids have extended to religious institutions in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur, indicating a far broader network than initially believed.

Midnight Arrest at G.S. Medical College, Pilkhuwa

According to official sources, the Special Cell team entered the campus of G.S. Medical College, Pilkhuwa, around 2:00 a.m. after receiving credible intelligence linking it to Dr. Muzammil’s terror module.

After talking to the college management, officers proceeded to the residence of Dr. Farukh Ahmed Dar, assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and placed him under arrest.

His laptop and pen drive were taken into custody for further forensic examination.

Dr. Farukh is a native of Meeripora Beerwah, Budgam (Jammu & Kashmir). He obtained his MBBS from Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences, Jammu, in 2016, followed by an MD in 2022 from Government Medical College, Srinagar.

Subsequently, he worked at Al-Falah University until joining G.S. Medical College. Intelligence sources say the name of Dr. Farukh surfaced during interrogations of Dr. Muzammil and another suspect, Dr. Shaheen, prompting this action.

Officials are also examining an unverified claim that Dr. Farukh was a classmate of the blast victim, Dr. Umar Nabi.

Madrasas Under Scrutiny in Muzaffarnagar

Simultaneously, three intelligence teams on Thursday carried out coordinated searches at the Madrasa‑e‑Islamiya Arabiya Darul Uloom Aziziya in Budhana (Muzaffarnagar district).

The action followed the arrest of three suspected terrorists in Ahmedabad, two of whom — identified as Azad and Suhail — reportedly studied at the same madrasa.

Agents examined admission registers, student files, and interviewed current students and staff for several hours, seeking clues about recruitment, radical influences, and any regional links.

“Doctors’ Terror Module is Unacceptable,, Says UP Deputy CM

Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak described the involvement of medical professionals in terror activities as “deeply reprehensible”.

He stressed that a profession entrusted with healing the sick must never be exploited for violence.

“We will leave no stone unturned. The guilty will face the full force of law,” he said. Following the Delhi blast, the state has been placed on high alert with intensified coordination between ATS units and local police.

Saharanpur ATS Action: Close Associate of Dr. Adeel Detained

On Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh Anti‑Terrorism Squad detained a young man in Saharanpur, believed to be a close associate of suspect Dr. Adeel.

He is reportedly holding key information about money trails, communication, and logistics tied to Dr. Adeel’s activities.

The youth is currently being interrogated at a secure location. On Wednesday, three other individuals had already been detained in the same district.

Network Map Widens: What Investigators Are Finding

The probe into the explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi has gradually exposed a network involving:

  • Medical professionals and professors are converting credentials into cover for terror tasks
  • Funding machines raising lakhs of rupees to procure vehicle components, fertilisers, and chemicals
  • Old vehicles being modified into IED-carriers
  • Religious institutions and madrasa hotspots serving as recruitment and training nodes

Senior security officials say the module was highly organised, with each pair of operatives assigned to one vehicle and one target, ensuring compartmentalisation and stealth.

The discovery of dozens of vehicles under modification has spurred inter-state coordination, especially between Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

What Happens Next

Investigators plan to:

  • Scrutinise all seized laptops, pendrives, and mobile devices for plans, target lists, and communications
  • Trace every vehicle purchase, modification, transaction transfer of funds
  • Complete forensics on chemical and explosive samples already recovered
  • Map out any remaining operatives, safe-houses, et, or sleeper-cells in rural pockets of UP and adjoining states

Delhi Police and central agencies have reportedly elevated the probe to a “national priority level” given the scale of the plot and the potential targets involved.
