Tehran has signalled that the current escalation is only the beginning of a broader wave of instability with potentially far-reaching global repercussions.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stark caution via social media, asserting that the ripple effects of the conflict are inevitable and universal.
His remarks underscore growing fears that the crisis may expand beyond the immediate region and disrupt global security and economic systems.
In a significant military development, Iran confirmed launching cluster-capable ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory early Wednesday.
These weapons, designed to disperse multiple submunitions over a wide area, were reportedly aimed at targets in and around Tel Aviv.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that advanced missile systems, including the Khorramshahr-4 and Qadr variants, were deployed as part of retaliatory action.
According to Iranian officials, the strikes were carried out in response to the killing of senior security figure Ali Larijani. On the ground, the conflict has already resulted in casualties. Israeli sources reported that missile strikes in central regions led to at least two fatalities, while additional individuals sustained injuries due to debris and shrapnel from intercepted projectiles near Tel Aviv.
The situation further escalated as Iran resumed coordinated drone and rocket attacks, with incidents reported near the US Embassy compound in Baghdad. This signals a widening operational theatre involving multiple countries and strategic locations.
In a separate development, an Iranian projectile reportedly landed near a military facility in the United Arab Emirates associated with Australian defence operations, raising alarms about the expanding geographical reach of the conflict.
Simultaneously, Israeli airstrikes targeting urban districts in Beirut, including Basta and Zokak Al-Blat, resulted in multiple civilian casualties, with at least six people killed and several others injured.
