Prayagraj: In a shocking and heartbreaking incident, a minor boy brutally murdered his father over a dispute related to money. The appalling crime occurred in Sahra village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kaundhiyara police station in Prayagraj. The incident has left the entire town in a state of grief and disbelief.
According to reports, the deceased, a 70-year-old man named Bharat Lal Patel, was attacked by his son on the head with an iron rod. The boy, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, showed no remorse and immediately stepped out of the house, shouting and declaring to everyone that he had killed his father.
The villagers shocked and horrified upon hearing the boy’s words, rushed towards Bharat Lal’s house. As they entered, they found Bharat Lal lying motionless on the ground, blood pooling around him. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the villagers promptly informed the police.
Family Background and Financial Dispute
Bharat Lal Patel was the father of five children—four daughters and a son. He had worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. Two of his daughters were married and settled—one in Kaushambi district and the other in Naini, Prayagraj. His other two daughters, Sarita and Neha, were employed in Delhi and regularly sent money home to support the family.
Recently, Bharat Lal had arranged for the marriage of his third daughter, which was scheduled to take place in May this year. To meet the financial requirements for the wedding, Bharat Lal had gathered a sum of money after selling one of his houses in the village. This money, however, became a source of conflict between him and his son.
According to villagers, the boy had developed a habit of drinking and had fallen into bad company. He frequently demanded money from his father to support his drinking habits and other expenses. Whenever Bharat Lal refused, heated arguments would break out between the two. The father, already struggling with a paralytic condition that made walking difficult, was unable to control his son’s growing aggression.
The Tragic Night of the Crime
On the fateful night of the incident, the boy returned home in a heavily intoxicated state at around 10 PM. Once again, he began demanding money from his father. As Bharat Lal refused, a verbal altercation ensued. Enraged by his father’s repeated refusals, the boy grabbed an iron rod lying nearby and struck his father’s head with brutal force. The impact of the blow was so severe that Bharat Lal collapsed on the ground and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Rather than fleeing or hiding his crime, the boy walked out of the house and loudly announced to the villagers that he had killed his father. His shocking confession sent a wave of panic and sadness through the village. Soon, a crowd gathered outside the house, and after confirming the horrific act, they immediately informed the police.
Police Action and Investigation
Kuldeep Sharma, the station in-charge of Kaundhiyara police station, confirmed that a case of murder had been registered against the boy. The police acted swiftly and arrested him based on a complaint filed by one of his sisters. During the initial interrogation, the accused admitted to his crime and showed no signs of remorse.
Investigations revealed that the boy had been influenced by a group of miscreants in the village who introduced him to alcohol and other vices. His increasing dependency on alcohol and reckless behavior had been a source of concern for the family and the villagers for quite some time. However, no one had anticipated that the situation would take such a tragic and violent turn.
A Devastated Family and Grieving Village
The murder has left the entire village in mourning. Many villagers recalled how Bharat Lal had been overjoyed at the birth of his son years ago. He had distributed sweets to the entire village, believing that his son would be his pillar of support in old age. However, fate had something unimaginable in store for him—his beloved son turned out to be his killer.
Bharat Lal’s life had already been filled with hardships. Three years ago, he had lost his wife, Ram Kali, which had left him emotionally shattered. He had also suffered a paralytic attack, making it difficult for him to move around. Despite his physical challenges, he continued to work hard for the well-being of his children.
The daughters, especially the ones living in Delhi, are devastated by the news. They had been sending money regularly to support their father, never imagining that their younger brother would commit such a heinous act.
The tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of how substance abuse can destroy lives and tear families apart. The entire village has been left in shock, mourning the loss of an elderly man who had dedicated his life to his family.
The accused son, once a source of joy for his father, now faces severe legal consequences. The case has once again raised concerns about the growing influence of bad company and addiction among the youth in rural areas.
As the investigation continues, the villagers and the family hope for justice for Bharat Lal Patel, whose life was cruelly cut short by the very person he had loved the most.
