Missile Interception Debris Damages Dubai Building as UAE Defence Systems Face Intense Pressure Amid Expanding Regional Conflict
Authorities in Dubai confirmed on Friday that fragments from a missile intercepted by air defence systems caused minor structural damage to the exterior of a building in the city’s central district.
Officials clarified that the incident affected the façade of the structure but did not result in any casualties or injuries.
At the same time, regional diplomatic reactions to the escalating conflict continued to emerge.
For the first time since the war began, Qatar issued a public statement condemning Israeli military strikes in southern Lebanon. Doha described the attacks as a “clear breach of humanitarian principles and international law.”
The Qatari Foreign Ministry urged the international community to assume its responsibility by pressuring Israeli authorities to halt repeated strikes on Lebanese territory and to comply with global conventions and legal obligations governing armed conflict.
The statement also reaffirmed Qatar’s consistent support for Lebanon, emphasising its commitment to the country’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while backing initiatives aimed at strengthening Lebanon’s security and economic stability.
Drone Strike Reported Near Dubai Creek Harbour
Meanwhile, the humanitarian toll of the escalating hostilities continues to rise. Officials in Dubai reported that a drone hit a building located near Dubai Creek Harbour during the early hours of March 12.
The impact sparked a fire within the building, though emergency responders managed to control the blaze quickly. Authorities evacuated residents from the premises as a precautionary measure to ensure their safety.
Casualties and Injuries in the UAE
According to officials, the drone and missile attacks attributed to Iran have resulted in the deaths of six people in the United Arab Emirates. The victims include citizens from several countries, among them Emirati, Pakistani, Nepali, and Bangladeshi nationals.
In addition, 131 individuals representing more than 25 different nationalities have sustained injuries ranging from minor wounds to moderate trauma.
Among those affected are residents from countries such as India, Egypt, and the Philippines.
UAE Defence Systems Under Heavy Strain
The ongoing military campaign known as Operation Epic Fury has significantly tested the resilience of the UAE’s air defence network.
Officials reported that on Wednesday alone, the country’s military successfully intercepted:
- 6 ballistic missiles
- 7 cruise missiles
- 39 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
Since the beginning of what Emirati authorities have described as “direct aggression,” the total number of intercepted projectiles has climbed dramatically.
Defence systems have reportedly neutralised 268 ballistic missiles and more than 1,500 drones targeting the country.
Regional Coordination Intensifies
As the confrontation spreads across the Middle East, the strategic and diplomatic landscape of the region is rapidly evolving.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence continues to collaborate closely with regional allies, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, to strengthen aerial defence coverage and maintain regional security.
At the same time, diplomatic channels remain active as governments attempt to prevent the crisis from escalating into a full-scale regional conflict.
However, the increasing intensity of missile exchanges and drone strikes suggests that achieving de-escalation may prove challenging in the near term.
