BJP and Congress seem to have given new twist to elections in 2024 by roping new faces to enter the poll arena.
BJP sources say, gone are the days when party picked up winnable candidates only or the sitting MLA’s and MP’s. Now, irrespective of who the candidate it is presumed that he/she would win because of the party symbol and PM Modi’s charismatic leadership.

Similar feeling prevails in the Congress fold where it is being felt that the party with Rahul Gandhi as it’s face would win not the candidate

At the same time both BJP and Congress, it is being said were trying to send message among party cadres that they would not feel neglected anymore.

This is evident from the fact that both parties have rejected pressing claims for tickets by most of the stalwarts and those who had carved a niche for themselves in the party cadres.

To name a few from Allahabad, BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi who had good hold in her constituency could not get party ticket in this parliamentary election. She is the sitting MP from Allahabad parliamentary seat.

Similarly, Keshari Devi Patel, BJP face from Phulpur seat also received setback as the party turned down her repeated requests. She even camped in Delhi for several days but her lobbying failed to cut ice.

It came as a surprise to many when UP Minister Nand Gopal Nandi’s wife and two time Mayor Abhilasha Nandi, who had been running from pillar to post and had also been visiting voters in Trans Yamuna area gifting sarees to women could not get the ticket.

On the other hand congress too denied tickets to stalwarts like Salman Khursheed, Nirmal Khatri, Rajesh Misra and few others.
