Modi Rolls Out Nationwide HPV Immunisation Drive in Ajmer, Unveils ₹16,680 Crore Development Package
Ajmer, Rajasthan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday chose the historic city of Ajmer as the backdrop for a significant public health announcement — the launch of a countrywide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for 14-year-old girls, aimed at protecting them against cervical cancer.
The initiative represents one of the most extensive preventive healthcare efforts focused on adolescent girls, targeting a disease that remains among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in women.
By expanding access to the HPV vaccine, the government aims to reduce future incidence rates and strengthen long-term women’s health outcomes across India.
But the visit was not limited to healthcare alone.
Massive Development Push Across Sectors
During the Rajasthan tour, the Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation and initiated development schemes collectively valued at over ₹16,680 crore.
The projects span multiple sectors — from urban renewal and potable water supply to road connectivity, irrigation networks, energy systems and industrial infrastructure.
A major highlight was the inauguration of key national highway developments designed to enhance connectivity and economic activity.
Among them was the newly completed four-lane greenfield expressway linking Bandikui to Jaipur, improving travel efficiency in the region.
Portions of the Amritsar-Jamnagar Economic Corridor and segments of the Delhi-Vadodara access-controlled expressway were also opened, strengthening freight and passenger movement across strategic routes.
Additionally, foundation stones were laid for an elevated corridor in Jodhpur, and modernisation works on various state highways, aimed at easing congestion and promoting smoother transportation within Rajasthan.
Focus on Water and Power Infrastructure
Recognising Rajasthan’s long-standing water challenges, the Prime Minister initiated projects under the Nonera Major Drinking Water Scheme and the Parwan Akawad Major Drinking Water Scheme.
These initiatives are expected to expand access to safe and reliable drinking water in underserved areas.
In the energy domain, new transmission lines connected to renewable energy hubs and multiple grid substations were either inaugurated or announced.
These steps are intended to reinforce the state’s power distribution capacity while supporting clean energy integration.
Employment Outreach
As part of efforts to boost public sector employment, the Prime Minister handed over more than 21,800 appointment letters to newly selected candidates across various government departments and institutions in Rajasthan.
The distribution ceremony underscored the government’s emphasis on youth employment and administrative strengthening.
Public Address in Ajmer
Following the formal launch of the HPV immunisation drive, Modi addressed a large public gathering in Ajmer, outlining the broader vision behind the healthcare initiative and the infrastructure push.
He highlighted preventive healthcare, women’s well-being, and integrated development as key pillars of his government’s agenda.
The day’s events combined health security, infrastructure expansion, and employment generation — reflecting a multifaceted approach to governance that blends social welfare with economic development.
