‘Naari Shakti and Yuva Shakti Power India’s Future’: PM Modi Hails Sitharaman’s Historic Ninth Budget

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday heaped praise on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for creating history by becoming the first woman to present nine consecutive Union Budgets.

Calling it a powerful symbol of the country’s growing “Naari Shakti” (women’s power), Modi said her achievement reflected the expanding role of women in shaping India’s economic future.

Addressing the nation after the Union Budget 2026–27, the Prime Minister highlighted the government’s strong focus on women-led development.

He noted that over 10 crore women across India have become part of women-run self-help groups, transforming grassroots entrepreneurship and financial inclusion.

“The Budget has given special priority to these women. It recognises their strength, their contribution, and their potential to drive the nation forward,” Modi said.

He also pointed to the announcement of new hostels for girls in every district, describing it as a major step toward improving access to education.

“This is not just about infrastructure — it is a highway to limitless opportunities. It strengthens the foundation of a brighter future for India and builds a strong base for Viksit Bharat 2047,” the Prime Minister remarked.

Reforms to Accelerate India’s Growth Engine

Praising the overall reform-driven approach of the Budget, Modi said India’s “Reform Express” would now gather fresh momentum.

“These reforms provide an open sky for India’s youth to soar high.

They are built on trust-based governance and focus on fiscal discipline, controlling inflation, and setting ambitious capital expenditure targets,” he explained.

Modi underlined that India’s aspirations now go beyond being the fastest-growing economy.

“Our 140 crore citizens are not content with growth alone. They want India to emerge as the world’s third-largest economy — and this Budget lays down the pathway for that journey,” he added.

Trade Deals and Sunrise Sectors in Focus

The Prime Minister also referred to recent international trade agreements, including what he described as “the mother of all deals” with the European Union, saying such partnerships would greatly benefit India’s youth and small businesses.

“This Budget takes meaningful steps in that direction by strengthening MSMEs and opening new global opportunities,” Modi said.

He highlighted strong support for emerging and high-growth sectors, including:

  • The Biopharma Shakti Mission
  • Semiconductor Mission 2.0
  • A rare earth corridor
  • New textile sector schemes
  • Development of champion MSMEs

“These sunrise sectors will become engines of innovation, investment, and employment,” he asserted.

Infrastructure Push Beyond Metro Cities

Modi also emphasised the government’s renewed focus on infrastructure development in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

“This will significantly increase the speed of economic growth across regions,” he said, adding that citizens themselves are the nation’s biggest capital.

“In the last few years, we have invested deeply in people — in their health, skills, education, and opportunities,” the Prime Minister noted.

A Budget for Youth, Jobs and Tourism

Calling it a “Yuva Shakti Budget,” Modi said it captured the energy, ambitions, and pace of India’s younger generation.

“It will create leaders, innovators, and creators,” he said, pointing to new initiatives aimed at providing fresh employment avenues, encouraging startups, and strengthening India’s role as a global data hub through tax relief measures.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism that the Budget would lead to large-scale job creation, while also welcoming steps taken to promote tourism — particularly in the northeastern states.

“Tourism has immense potential to generate income and employment, and the focus on the North-East will unlock new possibilities for growth in the region,” he said.

Strengthening Rural and Agricultural Economy

Modi reaffirmed his government’s continued commitment to agriculture, fisheries, and dairy sectors, describing them as pillars of rural prosperity.

He specifically mentioned new measures to support coconut, cashew, and sandalwood production, saying they would create additional livelihood opportunities in villages and boost rural incomes.

“These steps will not only strengthen farmers but also generate employment and enhance value chains in rural India,” he said.

The Road Ahead

Overall, the Prime Minister painted the Budget as a comprehensive blueprint for inclusive development — powered by women, driven by youth, strengthened by reforms, and supported by infrastructure and innovation.

“With Naari Shakti leading change and Yuva Shakti driving momentum, India is moving confidently toward a developed nation by 2047,” Modi concluded.
