Sharing screen space with an artiste like Pankaj Kapoor is just like playing a tennis match where the players have competition as well as a deep respect for each other, says Naseeruddin Shah, who is known as the School of Acting.
The duo, considered among the most critically acclaimed performers of Indian cinema, share the screen space in Anubhav Sinha’s Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, which recreates the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight IC 814.
At the press meeting of the show here on Tuesday, Naseeruddi Shah said Pankaj Kapoor’s presence in a mutual project pushes him to work extra hard.
Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor, who are brothers-in-law, have acted together in many iconic films of the Indian Film Industry, such as Mandi, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Maqbool and Khamosh.

Let me tell you guys, the series helmed by Ace Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is based on true events, “IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack” narrates the story of the longest hijacking in Indian aviation history.
In the series, Naseeruddi Shah essays the role of Cabinet Secretary Vinay Kaul, while Pankaj Kanpoor portrays Vijaybhan Singh, Minister of External Affairs.
Naseeruddi Shah said, ” I was disturbed when the incident happened as I had fear that it would lead to another wave of Islamophobia in the country.”
However, the well-versed and very reputed Director Anubhav Sinha has done needful research on the topic before going for the shoot.
