NDA’s Bihar Landslide Marks ‘Triumph of Democracy’, Ends Era of Lawlessness: PM Modi
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) sweeping mandate in Bihar represents a victory for democracy and genuine social empowerment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared on Friday.
He said the emphatic win signals the definitive end of Jungle Raj and predicted that the political momentum would carry forward into a major BJP breakthrough in West Bengal next year.
As celebrations erupted at the BJP headquarters, Modi emphasised that the NDA had replaced “tushtikaran” (vote-bank appeasement) with “santushtikaran” (governance that satisfies everyone).
He argued that the verdict showcased the public’s rejection of the Congress Party’s negative politics.
“Jungle Raj will never return… The people of Bihar have chosen development and prosperity,” Modi said, adding that the unprecedented victory placed even greater responsibility on him toward the people of Bihar, who contributed immensely to India’s progress but were historically denied fair treatment by parties indulging in appeasement.
He further described the result not only as an NDA win but as a testament to the strength of Indian democracy and renewed faith in the Election Commission.
Modi extended special praise to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other NDA allies. “I congratulate every NDA partner for their exemplary performance.
Nitish Kumar’s leadership and the commitment shown by Jitan Ram Manjhi, Upendra Kushwaha, and Chirag Paswan made this victory possible.”
Dressed in a Madhubani-design stole and holding a traditional gamcha, Modi went on to remark that some parties were still clinging to the “old MY formula”—referring to the RJD’s traditional Muslim–Yadav base.
“The new MY formula is Mahila and Yuva—women and youth,” he said.
He promised that the newly empowered NDA government would intensify efforts to bring more investments and jobs to Bihar. Modi also asserted that Bihar’s victory had created the pathway for the BJP’s advance into West Bengal.
“The Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal. And it has already carried the wave of victory with it. We will help the people of Bengal end Jungle Raj there as well.”
Aiming for Congress, Modi said the party had now turned into “MMC – Muslim League Maoist Congress,” and suggested that an internal split was looming.
“A section within Congress is increasingly uncomfortable with its negativity. Another major break may soon emerge.”
During his hour-long address, Modi lauded the Election Commission for enabling high public participation, attributing the record turnout to Bihar’s significantly improved law and order.
“Everyone remembers how elections were manipulated during Jungle Raj. Booth capturing happened openly.
Today, the same Bihar is voting peacefully and in record numbers. Every vote was cast freely.
The near-zero repolling shows how far we have come. In 1995 and 2000, over 1,500 booths required repolling.
After Jungle Raj ended, the situation changed. This time, across two phases, not a single repolling was needed.”
Bihar registered an unprecedented 67.13% voter turnout, helped in part by the Revision of the electoral roll, which removed nearly 4.7 million invalid entries.
Calling the verdict a powerful mandate for development and a rejection of RJD’s misrule, Modi said the opposition’s politics of appeasement had been defeated decisively.
“Appeasement is immoral. It has been replaced by inclusive development.
This win belongs to the women of Bihar who endured years of fear during the RJD era, and to the youth whose futures were obstructed by the red-flag extremists. Today, the red corridor and its terror are remnants of the past.”
He added that the verdict was Bihar’s reply to those who insulted the state’s aspirations by questioning the need for highways, expressways, trains, and airports.
“This result is an endorsement of development-driven politics,” he said.
Modi accused the RJD and Congress of smearing Bihar’s image for decades. “Those who mocked Chhath Puja as a drama have not apologised to Chhathi Maiya. The people of Bihar will never forget this.”
He further stressed that NDA governments defeating anti-incumbency in states like Bihar, Maharashtra, and Haryana showed the country’s preference for pro-governance, pro-growth politics.
“The party that once dominated India is now losing public trust everywhere. In Bihar, Congress has been out of power for 35 years; in Gujarat for 30 years; in UP for nearly four decades; and in Bengal for 50 years.
It hasn’t returned to power in these states. In the last three Lok Sabha elections, it failed to even cross 100 seats.
After the 2024 general elections, six states went to the polls—and Congress couldn’t cross the 100-seat mark there either.
They don’t even have as many MLAs in those six states as we have won in Bihar alone.”
