Nepal Finally Tastes Victory in T20 World Cup
Mumbai (Agency): Nepal finally registered a victory in the ICC T20 World Cup, defeating Scotland by seven wickets in a Group C encounter on Tuesday and ending a 12-year wait for a win in the tournament.
Nepal had previously won matches in their debut World Cup appearance in 2014, beating Afghanistan and the Netherlands, but had not managed a victory since then.
After winning the toss, Nepal opted to bowl first and restricted Scotland to 170 for seven. Michael Jones top-scored with 71 off 45 balls, striking eight fours and one six. Sompal Kami claimed three wickets, while Nandan Yadav picked up two.
In reply, Nepal chased down the target in 19.2 overs, finishing at 173 for three. Dipendra Singh Airee remained unbeaten on 50 off 23 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes.
Kushal Bhurtel contributed 43 runs with one four and four sixes, while Asif Sheikh added 33. For Scotland, Michael Leask took three wickets.
