Netanyahu Says Iran’s New Supreme Leader Has “No Protection” as US-Israel Offensive Against Tehran Continues

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Iran’s newly appointed Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, cannot expect any form of security guarantee as Israel and the United States intensify their ongoing military operations against Iran.

While speaking with journalists on Thursday, Netanyahu stated that the combined military offensive being conducted by Israel alongside the United States was achieving significant progress.

According to reports by the Associated Press, the Israeli leader also indicated that commanders and political figures associated with groups considered hostile to Israel might become potential targets.

Israel began its large-scale military campaign against Iran on February 28, an operation that Washington has described as Operation Epic Fury.

When reporters asked Netanyahu whether Israel might attempt to eliminate Mojtaba Khamenei or Naim Qassem, the head of the Lebanese militant organisation Hezbollah, he declined to dismiss the possibility.

According to the Associated Press, Netanyahu remarked that he would not provide “life insurance” for leaders of organisations he described as terrorist groups.

Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the position of Iran’s highest authority following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed earlier in the conflict during coordinated airstrikes conducted by American and Israeli forces.

The Israeli prime minister said the Israeli military was continuing to strike Iranian security units and affiliated paramilitary organisations.

He said Israeli forces were delivering severe blows to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as well as the Basij, targeting their presence both in urban areas and at security checkpoints.

According to Netanyahu, Israeli operations against these forces are still underway.

Addressing the citizens of Iran directly, Netanyahu suggested that the future political direction of the country ultimately rests with the Iranian population itself.

He said the opportunity for Iranians to move toward what he described as a freer future could be drawing nearer. Netanyahu added that Israel supports the Iranian people but emphasised that meaningful transformation would depend on their own actions.

In explaining Israel’s broader objectives, Netanyahu stated that the military offensive is intended to weaken the ruling establishment in Tehran and create circumstances that might lead to political change within the country.

Using a metaphor, he remarked that while someone can be shown the way to water, they cannot be forced to drink it — indicating that the decision about Iran’s future lies with its people.

Netanyahu also highlighted his close coordination with Donald Trump, noting that the two leaders have been communicating frequently throughout the conflict.

He said they hold discussions almost daily, sharing views, exchanging strategic advice, and making joint decisions regarding the ongoing military campaign.

In addition, Netanyahu hinted that Israel may be quietly building new alliances with several countries across the region, though he declined to disclose further information about these potential partnerships.

The remarks come as the confrontation between Israel, the United States,s and Iran continues to escalate, raising fears of a broader regional conflict across the Middle East.
