Newly Released US Justice Files Reveal Photo of Prince Andrew and Peter Mandelson With Jeffrey Epstein
A previously unseen photograph depicting Prince Andrew, Duke of York, British political figure Peter Mandelson, and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein sitting together has emerged from a large cache of documents recently made public by the United States Department of Justice.
The photograph, believed to be the first known image capturing all three individuals in the same frame, shows the men seated around a wooden table outdoors.
In front of them are mugs featuring the American flag, suggesting the picture may have been taken in the United States. However, the official files do not clearly indicate the exact date or location where the photograph was captured.
Believed to Have Been Taken in Martha’s Vineyard
According to reporting by the BBC, investigators believe the picture was likely taken in Martha’s Vineyard, a well-known vacation destination off the coast of Massachusetts.
Based on available information, the photograph is thought to date back to around 1999 or 2000, a period before Epstein had been convicted or officially registered as a sex offender.
Part of Massive Evidence Release
The image surfaced as part of a huge archive of materials released earlier this year by the US Justice Department.
The disclosure includes approximately three million pages of documentation, along with thousands of photographs and video recordings connected to investigations surrounding Epstein and his associates.
Within the photograph, Prince Andrew and Mandelson appear seated alongside Epstein at what seems to be a wooden deck table, suggesting a casual outdoor gathering.
However, the documents do not explain the circumstances under which the meeting occurred, nor do they clarify the nature of the relationship between the individuals present.
Links to Epstein’s “Birthday Book”
Observers have noted that the image bears similarities to another photograph previously associated with Epstein’s so-called “birthday book”, a compilation of messages and materials assembled for his 50th birthday celebration in 2003.
The discovery of the new photograph has renewed attention on Epstein’s extensive network of acquaintances, which included politicians, business leaders, and members of high society.
Emails Referencing the Photo
Correspondence examined by the BBC reportedly includes email exchanges suggesting that Mandelson had discussed the location of a photograph with one of Epstein’s staff members.
In a message dated July 2013, Mandelson reportedly wrote to Epstein’s assistant, indicating that the picture may have been taken during his first meeting with Epstein on Martha’s Vineyard.
Prince Andrew’s Past Denials
Prince Andrew has consistently rejected allegations of misconduct linked to Epstein.
The royal previously stated that he first encountered Epstein in 1999, explaining that the introduction was made by Ghislaine Maxwell, who maintained close ties with both men.
Andrew’s association with Epstein became the subject of intense scrutiny following a civil lawsuit filed by Virginia Giuffre, who alleged that she had been forced to have sexual relations with the prince when she was a minor.
The case concluded in 2022 with a financial settlement reached out of court, and no admission of wrongdoing was made by the prince.
Mandelson’s Response
Peter Mandelson has also maintained that he has not committed any criminal act in connection with Epstein.
According to previous statements attributed to him, he said he had initially accepted Epstein’s explanations regarding the allegations against him and only became aware of the full extent of the accusations after Epstein died in 2019.
Epstein’s Death and Maxwell’s Conviction
Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019 while being held in a detention facility in New York City, where he was awaiting trial on federal charges related to sex trafficking.
Meanwhile, his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell was later convicted for her role in recruiting and grooming underage girls for Epstein and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence in the United States.
The emergence of the newly released photograph is expected to add further scrutiny to Epstein’s circle of powerful contacts and may prompt renewed questions about the extent of his relationships with prominent figures across politics and business.
