In yet another major development related to the investigation into last month’s explosion at Delhi’s Red Fort, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday carried out extensive searches at the Lucknow residence of Shaheen Shahid Ansari (44).

Shaheen, a medical professional and former assistant professor, was arrested earlier after investigators uncovered what they describe as a “transnational and interstate terror module” reportedly connected to the blast.

Her younger brother, Parvez Ansari (38), has also been detained in the same case.

The NIA team reached the Ansari family home at Khandari Bazaar in the Qaiserbagh police station area earlier in the day, accompanied by a woman officer.

Family members were present during the operation, including their 80-year-old father, Syed Ahmed, a retired government employee, and their elder brother, Mohammad Shoaib.

For nearly three hours, officers conducted a thorough search, seizing several documents and electronic devices, according to sources.

The team also interacted with members of the family, though officials did not reveal details about what materials were collected.

Local police personnel were stationed outside the house as a precautionary measure to prevent any disturbance.

Shaheen’s academic background reflects an impressive trajectory.

After completing her intermediate education at Lalbagh Girls’ Inter College, she pursued MBBS and MD from SRN Medical College in Allahabad.

In 2006, she joined GSVM Medical University in Kanpur as an assistant professor in the Pharmacology department following her selection through UPPSC.

However, in 2013, she abruptly left the position without notice and later joined Al Falah School of Medical Sciences & Research Centre in Faridabad.

Parvez, on the other hand, finished his MBBS from Era Medical College, Lucknow, and later obtained an MD in Medicine from a college in Agra.

In 2021, he began working as a senior resident at Integral University, but resigned from the post on November 6, shortly before the arrests and investigation intensified.

The searches in Lucknow are part of coordinated action across eight locations nationwide, as authorities continue to trace networks that may have played a role in executing or supporting the Red Fort blast.
