Lucknow – In anticipation of the upcoming festive season, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday chaired a high-level coordination and review meeting with top administrative and police officials to ensure that law and order, public welfare, and communal harmony are upheld across the state during this sensitive period.
The meeting, held at the state headquarters, saw participation from all police commissioners, divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and senior superintendents of police (SSPs).
The chief minister emphasized that the administration must maintain an atmosphere of peace, brotherhood, and seamless public service during the festivals that fall within the coming weeks.
CM Adityanath underscored that religious festivities should be observed with utmost devotion, mutual respect, and discipline.
He reiterated that while faith and tradition are deeply valued, the government and administrative officials must remain vigilant and proactive to preempt any possible disruption.
He also directed that events must not involve any provocative slogans, inflammatory content, or display of weapons under any circumstances.
According to an official statement, the chief minister outlined detailed instructions to all district-level authorities for coordinated planning, timely communication, and the efficient implementation of security, health, and sanitation measures.
Highlighting the significance of the sacred Hindu month of Shravan, which will be celebrated from July 11 to August 9 this year, Adityanath noted that it includes key religious events such as the Kanwar Yatra, Shravani Shivratri, Nag Panchami, and Raksha Bandhan.
Furthermore, the Jagannath Rath Yatra is scheduled to take place between June 27 and July 8, while Muharram will be observed from June 27 to July 7.
“This entire period, stretching across several weeks, involves a series of religious events of immense importance to people from different faiths.
It is, therefore, considered extremely sensitive not just from a law and order perspective, but also about health infrastructure, disaster preparedness, cleanliness, and educational continuity,” the chief minister stated.
He directed that all departments — including police, home, urban development, health, transport, disaster management, and power — work in close coordination with each other.
He stressed the importance of accountability at every level to ensure that both the Kanwar Yatra and Muharram are conducted in a dignified, safe, and inclusive manner.
Special emphasis was placed on the Kanwar Yatra, which the chief minister described as not just a devotional journey but also a testament to discipline, collective spirit, and cultural fervor.
He asked officials to extend all possible support and facilities to Kanwariyas (devotees participating in the yatra), while also making arrangements to prevent any congestion, mismanagement, or communal tension.
Adityanath concluded by urging officers to maintain 24/7 communication with local communities, religious leaders, and volunteer organizations. He said that only through trust-building, vigilance, and sensitivity can the state ensure that the upcoming festivals are marked by joy, harmony, and the spirit of unity.
