Over 6,500 Candidates Absent on Day One of UP Police Sub-Inspector Recruitment Exam in Prayagraj; Tests Conducted Smoothly Across 43 Centres
Prayagraj: The first day of the Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts recruitment examination was conducted smoothly across 43 examination centres in Prayagraj district on Saturday, with strict security arrangements in place to ensure a fair and malpractice-free process.
Despite elaborate arrangements by the administration, more than 6,500 registered candidates did not appear for the examination.
According to official data, a total of 26,880 candidates had been scheduled to appear on the first day of the two-day examination, which is being held on March 14 and March 15 in two separate shifts each day.
Out of these, 20,352 candidates actually appeared, while 6,528 candidates remained absent.
Attendance in Both Shifts
In the first shift, which was conducted from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, a total of 13,440 candidates were registered. Among them, 10,118 candidates took the examination, while 3,322 candidates did not turn up.
Similarly, during the second shift, held from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, 13,440 candidates were expected to appear. Of these, 10,234 candidates attended the examination, whereas 3,206 candidates were absent.
Strict Security Arrangements
The district administration and police had implemented stringent measures to ensure a cheating-free examination environment. Candidates were allowed entry into examination centres only after thorough checking at the gates, where security personnel conducted detailed frisking.
Inside the examination centres, CCTV cameras were installed to monitor activities in real time, while drones were deployed outside the premises to keep a watch on the surroundings and prevent any suspicious activity.
Authorities also remained vigilant against solver gangs and organised cheating networks. For this purpose, teams from the Special Task Force (STF) and intelligence units were actively deployed throughout the day to monitor the situation and respond swiftly to any irregularities.
Officials confirmed that no incidents of malpractice, impersonation, or cheating were reported at any examination centre on the first day.
Senior Officials Conduct Inspections
To ensure the smooth conduct of the examination, several senior administrative and police officials visited multiple examination centres across the district. Among those who inspected the arrangements were Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Manish Shandilya, along with other officers. They reviewed the security measures, candidate verification process, and overall management at the centres.
Total Candidates and Schedule
For the two-day examination in Prayagraj district, a total of 53,760 candidates have been registered. The examination is being conducted in two shifts on both days.
- First shift: 10:00 am – 12:00 noon
- Second shift: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
On the second day (Sunday) as well, 26,880 candidates are scheduled to appear, with examinations being conducted across the same 43 centres in the district under strict supervision.
Authorities expressed satisfaction over the peaceful and orderly conduct of the first day of the examination and reiterated their commitment to maintaining complete transparency and fairness throughout the recruitment process.
