Plot to eliminate Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria foiled
In a dramatic late-night operation, Gurugram Police and the Special Task Force (STF) successfully foiled a major assassination attempt on popular Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria, arresting five sharpshooters after a fierce gun battle on Pataudi Road, Gurugram, on Tuesday night.
The incident comes barely weeks after Fazilpuria narrowly escaped a targeted gun attack in July, further highlighting the growing nexus between local gangsters and violent crime in Haryana.
The Shootout
According to police reports, the joint STF-Crime Branch operation unfolded around midnight on Tuesday near Wazirpur village, where officers had set up a barricade after receiving intelligence about the suspects’ movements.
The sharpshooters, traveling in a Toyota Innova, allegedly opened fire when ordered to stop, triggering a swift retaliation from the police team.
In the ensuing exchange of roughly 19 rounds of gunfire, four of the five gunmen sustained bullet injuries to their legs, while one, identified as Gautam alias Gogi, was immediately taken into custody.
All injured shooters were rushed to Civil Hospital, Sector 10, for treatment under heavy security.
A Chilling Plot
Initial investigations revealed that the arrested shooters were part of a criminal network linked to notorious gangsters Rohit Sardhaniya and Deepak Nandal.
The gang had allegedly conspired to assassinate Fazilpuria in retaliation for ongoing rivalries and financial disputes within the criminal underworld.
The accused are also believed to have been involved in the shocking murder of Rohit Shokeen, Fazilpuria’s financier, who was gunned down on August 4 near Palm Hills Society, Sector 77, Gurugram.
A History of Threats
The singer, known for chart-topping Haryanvi hits and his bold persona, has been a high-profile target of organized crime gangs operating in Haryana.
On July 14, 2025, gunmen fired two rounds at Fazilpuria’s car while he was driving along Badshahpur Southern Peripheral Road, but he managed to escape unscathed.
With Tuesday night’s arrests, police believe they have prevented another potentially deadly attack.
The Accused
The five arrested shooters were identified as:
- Vinod Pehalwan (Jhajjar)
- Padam alias Raja (Sonipat)
- Shubham alias Kala (Sonipat)
- Gautam alias Gogi (Sonipat)
- Ashish alias Ashu (Sonipat)
Authorities have confirmed that multiple weapons, including firearms and ammunition, were recovered from the suspects’ possession.
Police Speak Out
A senior Gurugram Police official emphasized that the STF and Crime Branch teams had been monitoring the movement of criminal networks for weeks.
The swift response, they said, was a direct result of actionable intelligence and close coordination between law enforcement agencies.
The encounter is being hailed as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing crackdown on organized crime in Haryana and NCR, where gang-related violence has escalated in recent years.
Public Safety Concerns
The attack on a public figure like Fazilpuria underscores rising concerns over the growing audacity of gangsters operating in the region.
Despite repeated crackdowns, these criminal outfits continue to target prominent personalities and financiers, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures.
