PM Modi Launches ₹2,200-Crore Development Projects in Varanasi, Reinforces Vision for a New India; CM Yogi Adityanath Echoes Commitment to Transform Uttar Pradesh

Varanasi: In a grand push to accelerate India’s development journey and elevate the standard of living for millions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a slew of development projects worth approximately ₹2,200 crore in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi. The visit was marked by the launch of several transformative initiatives spanning critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban rejuvenation, and cultural preservation.
The Prime Minister’s vision to position India as one of the most advanced, self-reliant, and inclusive nations globally was reflected in the manner in which one scheme after another was unveiled. These projects, aligned with the broader national mission of ‘Viksit Bharat’, are expected to bring lasting benefits not only to Varanasi but also to inspire similar growth models across the country.
Smart Urban Transformation:
As part of the Smart Distribution Project, PM Modi launched significant steps to modernize Varanasi’s power infrastructure, including the undergrounding of electrical systems to reduce power outages and enhance urban aesthetics. This move aims to transform ancient cities like Varanasi into modern urban centres while preserving their historic and spiritual identity.
Cultural and Environmental Conservation:
Reaffirming the government’s dedication to preserving India’s spiritual and cultural ethos, the Prime Minister also initiated restoration and water purification works for several ancient Kunds (sacred water bodies) in Varanasi. These efforts are aimed at maintaining the sanctity and sustainability of traditional water bodies that have played a vital role in the city’s religious and cultural life for centuries.
Empowering Farmers Nationwide:
In a significant nationwide initiative, PM Modi released the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana, disbursing more than ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across India. This scheme continues to serve as a vital economic cushion for farmers and underlines the government’s sustained focus on agricultural prosperity and rural upliftment.
