In a politically charged address delivered in Bihar’s Karakat on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came down heavily on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing them of exploiting the poor and marginalized during their time in power.

With the Bihar assembly elections approaching, Modi’s remarks were aimed at mobilizing support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) while highlighting the failures of the opposition parties.

Allegations Against Lalu Prasad Yadav and RJD

Referring to the RJD-led government of the past as a period of “Jungle Raj”, Prime Minister Modi alleged that Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family “snatched land from the poor” during their tenure, turning a blind eye to the struggles and rights of the underprivileged communities.

He said, “Lalu Prasad, his family looted the poor and misused their power. They never thought about the betterment of ordinary people, especially the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.”

Modi accused both Congress and RJD of exploiting the ideals of social justice for political gains. He claimed that their version of social justice was hollow and self-serving. “They wore the mask of social justice but continued to betray the very people they claimed to represent,” he added.

Criticism of Congress and RJD’s Portrayal of Bihar

In a sharp critique of the opposition’s portrayal of Bihar to international observers, the Prime Minister alleged that leaders of Congress and RJD had invited foreigners to the state in earlier years specifically to showcase its poverty.

This, he claimed, was done to garner sympathy and support, while failing to address the root causes of the state’s backwardness.

Modi said, “Now that Dalits, the deprived sections, and backward classes have distanced themselves from the Congress because of its decades of neglect, they are once again invoking the idea of social justice — not out of concern, but as a desperate attempt to stay politically relevant.”

A New Era of Development and Social Justice

Emphasizing the transformative changes brought under his government, Modi highlighted the shift in approach since the NDA came to power in 2014. According to him, this period marked the true beginning of social justice, one that was rooted in empowerment and infrastructure development rather than slogans and symbolism.

He noted that under the NDA, the country had seen a sharp decline in the number of Maoist-affected districts. “Back in 2014, there were 125 districts affected by Maoist violence.

Today, that number has come down to just 18. And the day is not far when Maoism will be completely eradicated from Indian soil,” he declared.

Strong Stand on National Security

Prime Minister Modi also spoke forcefully about national security and India’s fight against terrorism. Recalling earlier remarks made during a visit to Bihar, he said, “I had promised that terror camps would be destroyed, and we fulfilled that promise. Today, Pakistan and the world have witnessed India’s resolve and strength.”

He referenced Operation Sindoor, a military operation symbolizing India’s assertive stance against terrorism, and applauded the bravery of Indian soldiers. He particularly paid homage to BSF Sub Inspector Imtiaz, who lost his life during the operation on May 10.

Modi remarked that the courage of Indian soldiers and the unwavering spirit of the nation’s daughters and mothers had sent a powerful message to the world.

“Pakistan never imagined that India would respond so boldly. But we showed them the power of India’s new resolve — a resolve forged in courage, sacrifice, and patriotism,” he said.

Massive Development Push in Bihar

Apart from his fiery political address, PM Modi’s visit to Bihar was marked by the launch of a series of major development projects valued at over ₹48,520 crore, signalling the NDA government’s continued focus on infrastructure and connectivity in the state.

Among the key projects inaugurated were:

  • Four-laning of the Patna–Gaya–Dobhi section of NH–22, a critical highway corridor, at a cost of approximately ₹5,520 crore.
  • Four-laning of the elevated highway and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH–27.
  • The third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, with a project cost of ₹1,330 crore, aimed at boosting rail connectivity and logistics in the region.

These infrastructure upgrades are expected to enhance travel efficiency, promote economic activity, and generate employment opportunities across the state.

Conclusion: A Call for Political Change and Development

In concluding his speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Bihar to choose development over dynasty, and progress over past misgovernance. He said the days of corruption, fear, and exploitation were over, and that under the NDA’s leadership, Bihar was poised for a new chapter of growth, security, and justice for all.

“The journey that began in 2014 is moving forward with the strength of your trust. Let us not allow the shadows of the past to return,” he said, rallying voters to support his vision for a stronger and self-reliant Bihar.
