PM Narendra Modi Calls on Companies to Build AI Models in India and Take Them Global, Unveils ‘Human Vision’ for Ethical AI

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged companies to develop artificial intelligence (AI) models in India and scale them for global use, asserting that India views AI not with fear, but as a defining force of its destiny and future.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the Prime Minister presented India’s comprehensive “Human Vision” framework for AI before an audience of global leaders, corporate executives, and AI innovators.

At a time when many countries are grappling with apprehensions about AI, PM Modi said India sees the technology as an opportunity to empower humanity.

He stressed the need for authenticity labeling of digital content to clearly distinguish between original and AI-generated material, ensuring transparency and trust in the digital ecosystem.

The ‘Human Vision’ Framework for AI

Presenting the “Human Vision” doctrine, the Prime Minister outlined its core pillars:

  • M – Moral Ethical Systems: AI must be guided by strong ethical frameworks and responsible governance.
  • A – Accountable Governance: Systems must ensure accountability in AI development and deployment.
  • N – National Sovereignty: Data ownership must remain with its rightful owner — “whose data, their right.”
  • A – Accessible and Inclusive: AI must not become monopolized; it should be multi-player, inclusive, and widely accessible.
  • V – Valid and Legitimate: AI systems must be reliable and legitimate so that they serve as instruments of public welfare.

He emphasized that India’s AI approach is rooted in humanity, inclusivity, and fairness, and called upon the global community to adopt India’s AI model for the benefit of all.

India’s Strengths in AI

Highlighting India’s readiness, the Prime Minister said the country possesses the talent, energy capacity, and policy clarity required to lead in AI innovation.

He expressed satisfaction that three Indian companies launched their AI models and applications during the summit, showcasing the depth, diversity, and innovation potential of Indian youth and enterprises.

Advocacy for Open-Source AI

PM Modi strongly advocated for making AI more open and collaborative. He noted that while some countries and corporations treat AI as a “strategic asset” to be developed in secrecy, India’s philosophy differs.

“Transparency is the greatest security,” he said, underscoring that AI technology will truly benefit the world only when it is shared openly, with accessible code and collaborative innovation. India, he said, believes in open sharing rather than confidential development of AI systems.

Reiterating India’s commitment to responsible AI, he encouraged businesses to build AI solutions in India and take them to the world, positioning the country as a global hub for ethical, inclusive, and transformative artificial intelligence.
