PM Narendra Modi Promises Six Guarantees for West Bengal, Calls for Political Change in High-Voltage Haldia and Asansol Rallies
Addressing large public gatherings in Haldia and Asansol on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would introduce six key guarantees for the people of West Bengal if voted to power in the upcoming Assembly elections.
He urged voters to bring about political change in the state, alleging that the current government led by the All India Trinamool Congress has hindered development and weakened economic prospects.
Speaking at the Haldia rally, the Prime Minister asserted that all genuine citizens would receive the full benefit of government welfare schemes, while individuals identified as illegal infiltrators would not be allowed to remain in the country.
He also promised that, if the BJP forms the government, the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations would be implemented for state government employees, teachers, and workers in allied sectors, ensuring improved salary structures and financial security.
Strong Stand Against Corruption and Crimes Against Women
Prime Minister Modi pledged decisive action against corruption, stating that all files allegedly suppressed by the Trinamool Congress relating to corruption and crimes against women would be reopened for investigation.
He assured the public that individuals found guilty of corruption would face strict legal consequences.
Criticising the ruling party’s governance, Modi said that while India is moving steadily on the path of development, West Bengal is lagging due to what he described as the “insensitive governance” of the Trinamool Congress.
He emphasized that removing the present administration is essential for establishing a “developed Bengal” that can contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth.
Allegations of Economic Decline and Employment Irregularities
During his address, the Prime Minister accused the ruling party of failing the youth of the state by weakening opportunities in both the private sector and government employment.
He alleged irregularities in recruitment processes and claimed that corruption by certain ministers had adversely affected the aspirations of young people seeking stable careers.
At a separate rally in Asansol, Modi reiterated that political change in West Bengal is inevitable, claiming that public dissatisfaction with the current administration has reached a decisive point.
He highlighted what he described as a decline in the state’s economic contribution, stating that West Bengal’s share in the national GDP has reduced significantly over the years.
Reference to Nandigram Victory and Bhabanipur Contest
Referring to the high-profile political contest in the 2021 Assembly elections, Modi recalled the victory of Suvendu Adhikari over Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Nandigram constituency.
Expressing confidence in repeating a similar outcome, he said the BJP aims to secure a comparable victory in Bhabanipur, a constituency considered a stronghold of the Chief Minister in South Kolkata.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underline the intensifying political contest in West Bengal, with both parties gearing up for a high-stakes electoral battle that is expected to significantly influence the state’s political and economic trajectory.
