PM Narendra Modi Vows UCC in West Bengal, Targets TMC Over ‘Appeasement Politics’ and Corruption at Jangipur Rally

Murshidabad ( Jangipur): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to introduce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in West Bengal, stating that the move would put a permanent end to what he described as “appeasement-based politics” in the state.

Addressing a large election rally in Jangipur, Modi emphasized that the BJP aims to ensure equal rights for all citizens under a common legal framework while prioritizing national unity and security.

Speaking before party supporters, the Prime Minister asserted that the BJP would not allow Bengalis to become minorities in their own state.

He said the party’s election manifesto represents a comprehensive roadmap to eliminate what he termed “Maha Jungle Raj” (a state of lawlessness) under the rule of the All India Trinamool Congress government.

According to Modi, ensuring law and order and strengthening national security remain among the party’s highest priorities.

Referring to the RG Kar rape and murder case, which had triggered widespread public outrage, the Prime Minister alleged that the ruling party had shown sympathy toward the accused, a claim he said had deeply disturbed public confidence.

He further accused the Trinamool Congress of moving away from its earlier slogan of “Maa, Maati, Maanush” (Mother, Motherland, and People) and instead relying on what he described as vote-bank politics and support for illegal infiltrators.

Highlighting West Bengal’s historical legacy of political transformation, Modi said the state has repeatedly demonstrated its determination to bring change when it feels the need.

He remarked that Bengal’s history shows that whenever the people have resolved to transform the political landscape, no power in the world has been able to stop that change.

Drawing historical parallels, he said political forces ranging from the British colonial administration to the Congress and Left parties had eventually lost influence when the people of Bengal demanded change.

The Prime Minister also raised concerns about what he described as rapid demographic changes occurring in certain parts of the state.

He said the upcoming Assembly elections are not merely a contest for political power but an important moment to preserve the identity, culture and social balance of West Bengal.

According to him, the pace of demographic shifts in some regions has increased significantly, making the election crucial for the future direction of the state.

Targeting the Trinamool Congress government on allegations of corruption, Modi said that if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, individuals involved in corrupt practices and misuse of public funds would face strict legal consequences.

He alleged that those who had exploited public resources and misused their positions would be brought to justice and sent to jail.

He also claimed that individuals with criminal backgrounds who were previously associated with Left parties have now aligned themselves with the Trinamool Congress.

The rally at Jangipur is part of the BJP’s broader election campaign strategy as political activity intensifies in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly polls.

The Prime Minister’s speech focused on governance, national security, development, and the need for political change, themes that the party is expected to emphasize strongly during the election campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that West Bengal has a long history of political transformation and resilience.

He said that whenever the people of Bengal have collectively resolved to bring change, no force in the world has been able to prevent it.

Referring to historical shifts in political power, he remarked that every entity that underestimated Bengal’s determination — from the British colonial rulers to the Congress and Left parties — eventually witnessed the decline of their dominance in the state.

The Prime Minister also alleged that rapid demographic changes are taking place in several parts of West Bengal.

According to him, the upcoming Assembly elections are significant not only from a political perspective but also in terms of safeguarding the identity and socio-cultural balance of the state.

He claimed that the pace of demographic transformation in certain regions has increased considerably, making the electoral process crucial for the future direction of West Bengal.

Targeting the ruling All India Trinamool Congress on the issue of corruption, Modi asserted that if the Bharatiya Janata Party comes to power in the state, strict action would be taken against individuals accused of misusing public funds and exploiting government systems.

He said that those who have allegedly looted public resources or received political protection despite corruption charges would be brought under the purview of the law and face imprisonment.

He further alleged that several individuals with criminal backgrounds who were earlier associated with Left parties have now aligned themselves with the Trinamool Congress, raising concerns about governance and accountability in the state.
