Prayagraj Horror: Quack’s Deadly Advice Pushes Young Aspirant to Self-Harm in Pursuit of Becoming a Woman

Prayagraj: In a shocking incident that highlights the dangers of unqualified practitioners, a young man originally from Amethi, who had moved to Prayagraj to prepare for competitive exams, attempted to mutilate himself under the influence of a so-called “doctor.”

The youth, misguided by a private practitioner allegedly in Katra, attempted to cut off his own genitals in a desperate bid to turn himself into a woman. He was rushed to SRN Hospital in a critical state, and doctors there said his life was saved only because he was brought in time.

The youth himself allegedly revealed that this so-called doctor had given him injections and even a surgical blade, assuring him that after the injections, he would easily be able to carry out the procedure.

Instead of offering proper counseling, medical guidance, or referral to qualified specialists, the alleged quack handed over horrifying tools and reckless instructions—pushing the young man to the brink of death.

The young patient, still recovering at SRN Hospital, admitted that he blindly followed the alleged quack’s words, never realizing that gender transition involves a series of specialized medical and psychological procedures, conducted under strict professional supervision.

“I thought I was doing the right thing after his advice, but when the effect of the injection wore off, I was in unbearable pain, blood was everywhere, and I realized I had made a terrible mistake,” he told reporters from his hospital bed.

His mother, inconsolable at the hospital, fainted upon seeing her only son in such a state. Through tears, she lashed out at the quack, holding him entirely responsible.

“My son was never like this. I gave him the best education in a CBSE school and sent him to Prayagraj so he could become a government officer. That so-called doctor destroyed my son’s life. He must be punished,” she cried.

She pleaded with authorities to take strict action against the accused and warned that more unsuspecting youths could fall prey to such dangerous fraud if they were not exposed.

Police officials have confirmed that they learned about the incident through the media. DCP (Nagar) Abhishek Bharti stated that no written complaint has yet been received, but assured that if the youth or his family submits one, the police will launch a full investigation and take legal action against the practitioner.

This disturbing case throws light on how quacks continue to operate under the guise of doctors, exploiting vulnerable individuals with false promises and hazardous advice. Instead of directing the young man to professional counseling or specialized medical experts, this practitioner provided him with a blade and drugs that nearly killed him.

Such quacks are not merely negligent—they are a menace to public safety. They prey on the emotional vulnerability and confusion of people in distress, pushing them into irreversible tragedies. Authorities and the medical fraternity must urgently identify, expose, and bring such fraudsters to justice before more innocent lives are lost.
