PRAYAGRAJ: Massive Police Operation Launched to Nab Killers of Ravindra Pasi; Gangsters Act to Be Invoked
A massive police operation unfolded on Wednesday afternoon in Prayagraj, as a joint force from twelve police stations, led by Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar, descended upon Maduadeeh village, located on the city’s western outskirts.
The operation aimed to apprehend the suspects involved in the brutal murder of 35-year-old Ravindra Pasi, who was beaten to death with bricks and stones by a group of eight to ten youths on Tuesday evening.
The gruesome killing has sent shockwaves through Prayagraj, sparking public outrage and deep concern among residents, especially in the western parts of the city.
Acting on intelligence inputs, dozens of police vehicles surrounded Maduadeeh village, sealing all entry and exit points. However, when the police teams conducted house-to-house searches, none of the accused were found.
According to sources, the suspects — all in their early 20s — had already fled the area, fearing immediate arrest. They were reportedly in contact with lawyers, seeking legal advice to either surrender or apply for anticipatory bail.
Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar said that strict action would be taken against all those involved. “The properties of the accused will be seized, and the Gangsters Act will be invoked.
We will ensure that no one responsible for this heinous act escapes the law,” he asserted.
The accused have been identified as Kaif, Hussa, Irfan, Kamran, Ali, Nurain, and several others, all residents of Maduadeeh village — a locality long known as a stronghold of slain gangster Atiq Ahmad.
Investigators revealed that a large section of the village’s youth has a criminal history, with many having links to Atiq’s former network of sharpshooters.
To intensify the hunt, the police have constituted seven dedicated teams, comprising officers from multiple stations and specialized units.
“We are conducting coordinated raids across different districts and adjoining areas. Every effort is being made to bring the culprits to justice at the earliest,” said Commissioner Kumar.
The victim, Ravindra Pasi, was cremated on Wednesday amid tense and emotional scenes. Locals, angered by the brutality of the crime, blocked the Grand Trunk Road to demand swift justice.
In response, top police officials, including Additional Police Commissioner Dr. Ajay Sharma, DCP (City) Manish Shandilya, and ACP Pushkar Sharma, rushed to the spot to pacify the crowd and assure the victim’s family of stern action.
A heavy police presence, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, constables, and members of the women’s police unit, continues in and around Maduadeeh to prevent any further unrest.
Police sources emphasized that the operation will continue until every accused is arrested and the law takes its full course.
