Prayagraj: Teachers at Jagat Taran Golden Jubilee School, one of the district’s most reputed educational institutions, have come forward with serious allegations of mental harassment and misconduct against Principal Sushmita Lawango, filing a formal complaint with the District Magistrate.

According to the teachers, the principal has repeatedly subjected them to insults, abusive language, sarcasm, and public reprimands, often over minor mistakes.

They allege that she calls them individually into her office to berate them, issues “show cause” notices, imposes salary cuts, and humiliates them publicly during the morning assembly — actions that have deeply affected their self-respect and mental well-being.

The teachers also claim that Coordinator Smita Samaddar participates in this abusive behavior, compounding their distress. Despite having already approached the school management, the CBSE, the District School Inspector, and other higher authorities, no concrete action has been taken to address their grievances.

Jagat Taran Inter College has long been recognized as a leading institution in Prayagraj, known for quality education and the holistic development of students.

Teachers, being the backbone of society, play a critical role in shaping young minds. However, when they are forced to endure daily humiliation and disrespect, their ability to guide students toward academic and personal achievements is severely compromised.

Parents, alarmed by reports from their children about the ongoing situation, have urged the Jagat Taran Educational Society to step in and restore a respectful and supportive environment for the teachers.

They emphasized that a healthy, dignified workplace is essential not only for teachers’ well-being but also for sustaining the institution’s hard-earned reputation for excellence.

On the other hand, Principal Sushmita Lawango has denied all allegations, claiming that the teachers making the accusations are involved in internal politics and factionalism within the school.

She maintains that service conditions are aligned with CBSE guidelines, but some teachers are unwilling to accept them. She has also accused these teachers of misconduct and improper behavior toward other staff members.

The situation highlights a critical concern: the mental and physical well-being of educators must be safeguarded to ensure that institutions like Jagat Taran continue to provide high-quality education while nurturing the next generation.
