Bhavnagar, Gujarat: During the “Samudra se Samriddhi” (Prosperity from the Sea) programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a compelling address highlighting the vision of a self-reliant India.

In his speech, he identified what he considers the real adversary of the nation.

Modi stressed that India today is moving forward with a spirit of global friendship and engagement. He clarified that the country does not face a formidable foreign enemy on the world stage.

Instead, he pointed out that the greatest danger to India is dependence on other nations.

“This is our biggest enemy,” Modi stated, urging collective effort to overcome external reliance. He warned that deeper dependence on foreign resources could increase the risk of national setbacks.

For peace, stability, and prosperity worldwide, the country with the largest population must first achieve self-sufficiency.

Strong Criticism of Congress

Prime Minister Modi also directed sharp criticism at the Congress party. He noted that India has always possessed immense potential, but decades after independence, the nation did not achieve the progress it deserved due to certain policy failures.

Specifically, he highlighted the license-quotas raj and policies that isolated India from global markets, which he argued hampered the country’s growth and development, particularly among its youth.

Modi asserted that for India to become a developed nation by 2047, self-reliance is indispensable. There is no alternative.

He called on all 140 crore citizens to unite under a single resolve: whether it’s chips or ships, everything must be made in India.

In line with this vision, the government is introducing next-generation reforms in the maritime sector. A landmark decision has been made to recognize large ships as infrastructure, thereby strengthening India’s naval capabilities and reinforcing the country’s global economic and strategic position.
