Security agencies investigating the recent blast in Delhi have identified the prime suspect as Dr. Omar-un-Nabi, a physician from Pulwama, Jammu & Kashmir. According to police sources, Omar was allegedly driving the car used in the explosion.

CCTV footage near the blast site reportedly captured a masked man believed to be him. Authorities also suspect his links to a Faridabad-based terror module.

Car’s Movement Traced

Preliminary CCTV analysis has revealed the suspected vehicle’s route:

  • The car is said to have left Faridabad for Delhi approximately 12 hours before the blast.
  • Around 7 am, it was spotted outside Asian Hospital in Faridabad.
  • At 3:19 pm, it reportedly entered a parking area near the Red Fort complex.
  • The vehicle remained parked in the vicinity for nearly three hours, during which investigators believe the strategy for the explosion may have been finalized.
Explosive Materials Used

Initial forensic findings indicate that the blast involved:

  • Ammonium nitrate
  • Fuel oil
  • Detonators

This comes just two days after authorities seized nearly 2.5 tonnes of ammonium nitrate from two premises linked to Dr. Muzammil in Faridabad, raising suspicions of a coordinated network.

In total, four doctors are reportedly under scrutiny, with Omar emerging as the primary suspect.

DNA Test Conducted

To confirm the identity of the suspected driver, police conducted a DNA test on Omar’s mother, Shameema Begum, on Tuesday.

Omar, a resident of Koli village in Pulwama, had reportedly told his family that he would return home within two to three days.

His father, Ghulam Nabi Bhatt, and other family members are currently being questioned.

Nation’s Response & Investigation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident during his visit to Bhutan, assuring the nation that the conspirators will not be spared.

He also stated that he has been in constant touch with security agencies monitoring the probe.

Later that night, he reviewed the investigation progress with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Following a high-level meeting chaired by Shah, the case was officially handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

A detailed preliminary report has already been submitted to the Home Ministry.

Search for Additional Suspects

A viral video from a Faridabad fuel station showed two additional passengers in the suspected car during an emission test visit.

These individuals exited the vehicle and remain missing. Police teams are actively searching for them.

Raids & Hotel Surveillance

Acting on early leads, security teams conducted raids across several areas of Delhi. Hotels in Daryaganj and Paharganj were specifically inspected, and staff were questioned based on guest register entries.

Investigators are also circulating Omar’s photograph to gather information on his possible accomplices and movements.

If sources are correct, there was involvement of six doctors, while four have been identified. Police were trying to determine where the other two were and where they were hiding.

The car driver had driven the car to the Lal Quila parking lot, where it remained parked without moving.

Sources said that during three hours and four minutes, it dawned upon Omar that triggering a blast in the parking lot would only bring extensive damage to other vehicles, not human lives, because after parking the car, people usually move out, except for a couple of persons standing here and there.

It is suspected that during this parking period, Dr Omar, who must have been in contact with his handlers, who advised him to move towards the crowd.

The area has temples, Gurdwar, and other religious places where the blast could have wreaked colossal damage, and so many human lives would have been lost.

And as has been seen, to get publicity, terrorists choose such places only to gain international attention and a name.

But this also did not happen.

Omar could have easily rammed the car into any vehicle very close to one of the religious places to kill hundreds of citizens, but what went wrong with his idea only the driver must have known.

Instead, the blast occurred when the vehicle was moving very slowly, and the crowd was not very thick. It is also possible that Omar panicked or had become nervous, which resulted in the blast.

Ongoing Vigil

With the investigation intensifying, authorities are working to track down all individuals believed to be involved.

Meanwhile, Delhi remains on high alert as teams pursue every lead related to the suspected terror network.
