Putin Echoes Modi’s “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” Spirit at Presidential Banquet, Calls India–Russia Partnership a Model for a Fair Global Order
Russian President Vladimir Putin, addressing the Presidential banquet hosted in his honour at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday evening, invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guiding principle of “sabka saath, sabka vikas” — signalling deep alignment between New Delhi and Moscow as they celebrate 25 years of their Strategic Partnership.
Standing alongside Prime Minister Modi and Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, Putin said the phrase “go together, grow together” perfectly captures the strength and character of India–Russia relations.
“These words truly reflect the nature of our partnership, and we will do everything possible to ensure this relationship continues to grow for the good of our people,” he affirmed.
Putin emphasised that the relationship between the two nations is built upon equality, trust, mutual respect and shared interests.
“Our discussions over the last two days were open, sincere and constructive.
Russia and India are working together to establish a fair and just world order,” he said in his concluding remarks before departing from India.
President Murmu Highlights 25 Years of Strategic Partnership
Welcoming the Russian President and his delegation, President Droupadi Murmu noted that his visit holds historic significance as it marks the 25th anniversary of the India–Russia Strategic Partnership, first formalised during Putin’s visit to India in October 2000.
She highlighted that bilateral engagement continues to deepen across defence, nuclear energy, science, technology, culture and space cooperation, driven by a mutual commitment to peace, stability and socio-economic progress.
The Joint Statement issued at the conclusion of the 23rd Annual Summit, she said, reflects the “special and privileged nature” of the India–Russia relationship.
The President also recalled the centuries-old cultural ties between the two nations — from ancient trade links to the intellectual exchange between Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy, and the long-standing admiration of each other’s literature, arts and traditions.
An Evening of Diplomacy and Cultural Flavour
The banquet was attended by several senior members of the Union Cabinet, including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman,
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Ports and Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Guests were served a curated Indian thali featuring:
- Sheermal and a signature morel delicacy from Kashmir
- Gur sandesh from West Bengal
- Murukku, the popular South Indian crunchy snack
Adding to the ceremonial ambience, the Rashtrapati Bhavan Naval Band presented a musical showcase to honour the visiting dignitary.
Putin’s remarks and the ceremonial warmth underscored the enduring relevance of India–Russia ties on the global stage, particularly at a time when geopolitical realignments are accelerating.
