ran Claims Fresh Missile and Drone Strikes on US and Israeli Targets Under ‘Operation True Promise’; Trump Signals Possible End to Conflict Soon

Washington/Tehran/Dubai: Tensions in the Middle East have intensified after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched a new wave of missile and drone strikes targeting American and Israeli positions as part of its ongoing military campaign, ‘Operation True Promise.’

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump has indicated that the conflict could potentially conclude within one to two weeks.

According to media reports, the IRGC announced the commencement of the 88th wave of attacks, asserting that four major operations were carried out across the region.

These reportedly included strikes on vessels in the Persian Gulf as well as drone attacks aimed at installations linked to the United States Marine Corps.

In an official statement, the IRGC claimed that its naval forces launched ballistic missiles targeting a container ship identified as “Express Haifong” in the Persian Gulf, alleging Israeli links to the vessel.

Another reported attack involved drones targeting a US Marine facility along the coast of the United Arab Emirates.

The statement further claimed that Iranian forces destroyed a counter-drone defence system associated with the US Fifth Fleet near Manama Airport in Bahrain.

Additionally, the IRGC alleged that drones struck two advanced early-warning radar systems located at the Jaber Al-Ahmad base in Kuwait, which it described as American military infrastructure.

Iran also asserted that these actions fall within the framework of legitimate self-defence under international law.

Claim of Control Over Strait of Hormuz

In a separate statement issued on Wednesday, Iranian authorities emphasized that their forces maintain full operational control over the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.

The IRGC warned that any hostile activity in the area would be met with immediate missile and drone retaliation.

The IRGC also claimed responsibility for a missile strike on an oil tanker reportedly linked to Israel in the Persian Gulf, identified under the commercial name “Aqua 1.” According to the statement, the strike was described as a “precision operation.”

The situation continues to be closely monitored amid concerns that escalating military actions could further destabilize the already volatile Middle East region.
