Reel-Making Obsession Turns Deadly Again: Two Class 10 Students Killed in Bihar Crash, Another Critical

The disturbing trend of risk-taking for social media content has once again claimed young lives. In Bihar’s Munger district, two Class 10 students were killed and one critically injured after their bike rammed into a stationary bus on National Highway 80, near Bariyarpur Sultanganj, about 170 km from Patna.

The victims were identified as Shubham and Anand Kumar, who died on the spot. Their friend, Sonu Kumar, is currently battling for his life at a local hospital.

According to police sources, the three teenagers were riding triple-seat on a motorbike while recording a reel for social media when the rider lost control, slamming head-on into a parked bus.

A Pattern of Deadly Recklessness

This latest tragedy reflects a growing obsession among youth with risky stunts and reel-making—often carried out on highways, near riverbanks, and at dams. Just a day earlier, four teenagers in Greater Noida lost their lives when their speeding motorbike carrying all four riders crashed into a WagonR.

Yet, despite the repeated carnage, many young people continue to ignore basic safety measures, using highways as filming backdrops for dangerous social media content.

A Community in Mourning

The deaths have plunged families into unimaginable grief. Superintendent of Police Imran Masood emphasized that repeated awareness drives on road safety appear to have little impact on the youth.

“We constantly urge people to wear helmets, avoid speeding, refrain from triple riding, and not use phones while driving. Yet incidents like these keep happening, leaving families devastated,” he said.

Highways Becoming Hotspots for Risky Content

Across India, highways and other scenic locations like dams and riverbanks have turned into tragic stages for dangerous video-making. In many cases, what begins as a quest for viral fame ends with irreversible loss—leaving families shattered forever and highlighting a growing disconnect between online thrills and real-world consequences.

A Call for Change

These heartbreaking stories are no longer isolated accidents but part of a disturbing trend. Each reel filmed recklessly on highways or near perilous spots risks not just the life of the person behind the camera but also innocent commuters. A cultural shift is needed—one that prioritizes safety over social media validation.
