Retired Sub-Inspector Brutally Murdered in Prayagraj Village, CCTV Smashed; One Suspect Detained
Lalapur/Bashera (Prayagraj): A shocking murder has rocked Chakshivcher village under the Lalapur police station area in Prayagraj.
A retired sub-inspector was beaten to death, with his head brutally crushed.
The blood-soaked body of 70-year-old Ramratan Mishra was found inside his room on Monday morning, triggering panic across the village.
The assailants also attempted to destroy evidence by damaging the CCTV camera installed in the house.
Police recovered a blood-stained stick (lathi) from the room, believed to have been used in the killing.
Based on CCTV footage, the police have taken a local युवक (youth) into custody and are interrogating him. Authorities claim the case will be solved soon.
Victim’s Background
Ramratan Mishra was a resident of Maduri village and had retired in 2015 from the Crime Branch Criminal Investigation Department as a sub-inspector. His wife had passed away around 25 years ago.
His two sons, Vijay and Sanjay, are employed in Mumbai, while his daughter, Vandan, is married.
For the past few years, Ramratan Mishra had been living alone in a house built in Chakshivcher village, about one kilometre away from his ancestral home.
How the Crime Came to Light
At around 9:30 am on Monday, his granddaughter Yashi arrived as usual to deliver his meal. Finding the door locked, she repeatedly called out to him and tried reaching him on his mobile phone, but received no response.
Fearing something was wrong, she called her brother Praveen. Together, they went around to the back of the house, where they found a door open. Inside the room, they discovered their grandfather lying dead in a pool of blood.
He had sustained multiple deep head injuries, clearly indicating that the killers had attacked him with extreme brutality.
Police Investigation Underway
Soon after the incident was reported, senior police officials reached the spot, including DCP Yamunanagar Vivek Chandra Yadav, ACP Bara Nikita Srivastava, Station House Officer Anubhav Singh, along with forensic experts and a dog squad team.
Initial investigations revealed no signs of forced entry into the room, raising suspicions that the victim may have known the attacker.
Based on CCTV footage, police have detained a youth from the same village for questioning. Officials have expressed confidence that the murder will be solved soon.
