NAGPUR: On the 100th Vijayadashami of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered a sweeping address that spanned terrorism, internal security, economic inequality, environmental crises, and regional political stability — a comprehensive blueprint he termed “Bharat’s resurgence.”

Marking a historic milestone, Bhagwat emphasized that the centenary year is not just for celebration but for introspection, responsibility, and action. He highlighted the lessons from recent national and regional events, urging citizens to balance faith with vigilance in a rapidly changing world.

Terror in Pahalgam: Testing India’s Resolve and Global Friendships

Bhagwat recalled the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 Indian tourists were brutally killed after being asked about their Hindu faith.

“The government of Bharat responded firmly in May, showcasing the courage of our Armed Forces, the determination of our leadership, and the unity of our society,” he said.

He warned that the attack also exposed the fragility of global support. “It showed us who truly stands by India in the international arena,” he added, underscoring the need for vigilance in diplomacy and a pragmatic approach in global affairs.

Naxal Violence Contained, But Development is Key

On internal security, Bhagwat noted that Left-Wing Extremism, especially Naxal activity, has been significantly curtailed.

“The Naxalist movement has largely been brought under control thanks to government action and the realization among people of the hollowness of their ideology and cruelty,” he said.

However, he cautioned that lasting peace depends on justice, development, empathy, and harmony, warning that without socio-economic progress, the gains against extremism could be undone.

Economic Inequality Threatens Growth and Harmony

Bhagwat criticized structural flaws in India’s economic system, highlighting widening wealth gaps, concentration of economic power, exploitation, and environmental degradation.

“Materialism and transactional relationships are replacing genuine human bonds,” he said, stressing that self-reliance (Swavalamban) and indigenous initiatives (Swadeshi) are crucial.

Pointing to global trade pressures, particularly from the USA, Bhagwat underscored the need for India to remain economically sovereign while addressing inequality to ensure a just society.

Environmental Alarm Bells from the Himalayas

Warning against unchecked development, Bhagwat highlighted ecological stress in the Himalayan region: unpredictable rainfall, landslides, drying glaciers, and the broader implications for water and food security in South Asia.

“The Himalayas are both our wall of security and our water source. These disasters are a warning not just for Bharat, but for the entire region,” he said, urging sustainable development and ecological consciousness.

Neighbourhood Turmoil: Democratic Means as the Way Forward

Turning to regional politics, Bhagwat expressed concern over political upheaval in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal, where violent protests have led to regime changes.

“Violence cannot bring about desirable change. True transformation comes through democratic means,” he said. Calling neighbouring countries “part of our extended family,” he emphasized peace, stability, and prosperity as shared responsibilities.

A Vision for Bharat: Security, Prosperity, and Sustainability

Bhagwat’s address wove together security, economic justice, environmental stewardship, and regional harmony as pillars of a resurgent Bharat. His speech reflected the RSS’s intent to engage proactively with contemporary challenges, calling for both citizen introspection and national action.

The centenary Vijayadashami thus served not only as a celebration of the Sangh’s past but as a clarion call for Bharat’s future, urging vigilance, responsibility, and resilience in every sphere of national life.
