PRAYAGRAJ: The Sessions Court in Prayagraj has rejected the bail plea of Ali Ahmed, son of slain mafia don Atiq Ahmed, in a high-profile extortion case linked to a local builder.

Ali Ahmed, who was earlier lodged in the Naini Central Jail for several years, is currently imprisoned in Jhansi Jail following his transfer from Prayagraj.

According to case details, Ali and his associates allegedly demanded ₹5 crore from a builder to facilitate the illegal takeover of a piece of land.

The incident dates back to April 26, 2023, when Mohammad Muslim, a property dealer from Chakia, lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Khuldabad Police Station, Prayagraj.

In the FIR, six individuals were named—Ali Ahmed, his brother Umar Ahmed, and others identified as Asad Kalia, Ehtesham, and Karim.

The complainant alleged that the accused forcibly abducted him from Chakia crossing, took him to Atiq Ahmed’s office, confined and assaulted him, and threatened him to transfer his land located in Devghat, Dhoomanganj, in the names of Umar and Ali.

Fearing for his life, the builder later managed to escape, but under continued pressure, he was allegedly forced to pay ₹1.20 crore to one of the accused, Asad Kalia.

During the hearing, Ali Ahmed’s counsel argued that he had been falsely implicated in the matter.

However, the prosecution strongly opposed the bail plea, asserting that there was substantial evidence against him.

After reviewing the case records and taking into account the seriousness of the charges as well as the criminal background of the accused, the Sessions Court, Prayagraj, on October 15, ruled against granting bail to Ali Ahmed.
