In a significant achievement for the Indian Army, seven Pakistani infiltrators, including members of the Al-Badr militant group and personnel from the Pakistani Army, were neutralized in the Krishna Ghati sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The operation, which unfolded on February 4 and February 5, successfully thwarted a Border Action Team (BAT) attempt targeting an Indian Army post.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the LoC in the Krishna Ghati area, where the infiltrators were attempting to breach the Indian border. The BAT operation, which typically involves a mix of Pakistani Army personnel and militants, was designed to attack Indian military posts and create instability. However, the vigilant Indian forces detected the movement and launched a swift counter-offensive, eliminating all seven infiltrators.

Although official statements are still awaited, sources indicate that this operation is a major success for the Indian Army, further strengthening its resolve to secure the LoC against cross-border infiltration attempts.

In a separate and tragic incident on February 3, a retired serviceman was shot dead by terrorists in the Behibagh area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The victim, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, was attacked by terrorists who opened fire at close range, injuring him, his wife, and their daughter.

The attack occurred when Manzoor and his family were at their home. The terrorists fired multiple rounds, critically wounding Manzoor. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries due to severe blood loss caused by multiple bullet wounds to his abdomen.

Manzoor’s wife and daughter were also injured in the attack, suffering gunshot wounds to their legs. Both were immediately admitted to the hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Medical officials have reported that their condition is stable and they are expected to recover.

Following the attack, a joint team of police, army personnel, and CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) jawans quickly reached the site of the incident. A cordon-and-search operation was launched to track down the terrorists responsible for the brutal attack. Security forces are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

Senior security officials, including high-ranking officers from the army and police, also arrived at the scene to evaluate the situation. Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack may have been premeditated, aimed at creating fear and unrest in the area.

The two incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. While the successful neutralization of infiltrators at the LoC underscores the army’s preparedness to counter external threats, the targeted killing of the ex-serviceman serves as a grim reminder of the persistent internal threat posed by terrorism.

Security forces have ramped up operations across the region, increasing vigilance along the LoC and in areas known for terrorist activity. Efforts to identify and dismantle terror networks continue as authorities strive to ensure peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.

These incidents underscore the sacrifices made by both active personnel and retired servicemen in safeguarding the nation. While the elimination of infiltrators is a commendable achievement, the tragic loss of Manzoor Ahmad Wagay and the attack on his family serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict in the region.
