Shadowy Pro-Khalistan Group Claims Killing of RSS Worker in Ferozepur; Police Probe Credibility and Motive
A little-known group claiming pro-Khalistan allegiance has stepped into the spotlight after taking responsibility for the killing of RSS activist Naveen Arora in Punjab’s Ferozepur.
In a statement circulated across multiple social media platforms, an outfit calling itself the Sher-e-Punjab Brigade announced not only its formation but also its intention to act “for the cause of Khalistan’s freedom”.
The unsigned group went further, issuing open threats against RSS and Shiv Sena members, as well as police and military personnel.
The letter was signed by someone identifying himself as Paramjit Singh.
However, security officials are approaching the claim with caution. A senior Punjab Police officer said investigators must first verify the origins of the letter.
“This could very well be a fake organisation or a deliberate attempt to divert attention from the real culprits behind Arora’s murder,” he noted.
Another senior intelligence official added that technical analysis — including digital footprints, communication metadata, and source tracing — will be used to establish whether the outfit is genuine or simply trying to claim credit for a high-profile crime.
“Punjab has seen several instances where fabricated groups surface briefly to claim responsibility. We will examine this claim minutely before concluding,” he said.
Naveen Arora, son of senior RSS leader Baldev Raj Arora and grandson of RSS veteran Dina Nath, was gunned down by two motorcycle-borne assailants who fled the scene immediately after opening fire.
While the investigation is ongoing, officers say they are also examining possible motives beyond the group’s self-declared claim — including personal enmity, local political rivalry, extortion angles, and targeted ideological attacks.
At the moment, officials have not ruled out the possibility that someone else may have carried out the assassination, and the new outfit is merely trying to exploit the incident for publicity.
