Akhtar a relative of slain mafia don Ashraf has been arrested for extracting Rs 20 lakh from a person in Puramufti on the outskirts of Allahabad.
One Mabood Ahmad is the caretaker of a wakf property in the Sallahpur area.
Four months ago he was going to Dhumanganj from Sallahpur when history sheeter Sibli hailing from Hatwa, Jain from Umarpur Neeva, Hasir resident of Nakhas Konha and Akhtar resident of Hatwa stopped him and gave him a good thrashing.
On resistance, the person identified as Jain brandished a pistol and told him to cough up 20 lakh in case he wished to work on the Wakf land. These persons also allegedly snatched Rs 20, 000 from the victim.
