Terror-Linked Doctors Under Scanner: NIA, ATS Launch Multi-State Hunt; Female Radicalisation Plot Exposed
Investigative agencies, including the NIA, multiple central intelligence units, and the UP ATS, have intensified their probe into the expanding network of terror-linked doctors.
Amid this ongoing crackdown, agencies are now zeroing in on Dr. Shaheen, accused of building a female terrorist brigade, along with her close associates whose records are being thoroughly examined.
Several individuals connected to her have been traced to Uttarakhand, prompting UP ATS teams to share inputs and dispatch special units to the hill state.
Dr. Shaheen at the Centre of Delhi Blast Conspiracy
According to investigative sources, the doctor’s gang responsible for the Delhi blast also involved Lucknow-based Dr. Shaheen, who was closely associated with Dr. Mujammil, arrested earlier by Srinagar Police.
Interrogation has confirmed that Dr. Shaheen was specifically tasked with recruiting and preparing a female cadre for terror organisations.
She was used as a “safe operational cover” for various assignments, including acquiring explosives and facilitating logistics.
Following these revelations, intelligence agencies apprehended Dr. Shaheen and initiated extensive interrogation.
Digital Footprints Reveal Multi-State Links
An analysis of her mobile call records, location data, social media interactions, and encrypted chats has exposed several suspicious connections.
Some of the contacts she was constantly communicating with were found living in Uttarakhand.
Notably, Uttarakhand shares a porous border with Saharanpur, the district from where Srinagar Police had earlier arrested Dr. Adil, another key player in the terror network.
Given this geographical proximity and established movement routes used for escape, agencies have now placed the entire region under heightened surveillance.
Several ATS teams have been deployed to Uttarakhand to verify the backgrounds, digital histories, and movements of Dr. Shaheen’s frequent phone contacts. Raids were conducted late Thursday night, and some individuals were questioned.
Digital Devices Could Reveal ‘Threema’ Usage, Foreign Links
In a parallel track, investigators seized the laptop and pen drives of Dr. Farukh Ahmed Dar, picked up for questioning from GS Medical College in Pilkhuwa.
These devices are expected to reveal crucial intelligence—particularly on the use of Threema, a Swiss encrypted messaging app known for its deep-security architecture and often misused by terror outfits.
Agencies believe the data may confirm Farukh’s communication with both Dr. Mujammil and Dr. Shaheen, potentially mapping out the communication chain and planning architecture behind the blast plot.
Heavy police presence continued at GS Medical College on Friday, with strict monitoring of entry and exit points.
Uttarakhand Suspicion Was Already on Intelligence Radar
Earlier inputs had hinted at a possible Uttarakhand angle. It was already known that Dr. Adil was strategically placed in Saharanpur because of its proximity to the Uttarakhand border—an accessible escape route after any planned attack.
During interrogation, Dr. Adil had admitted that the network intended to use Saharanpur for temporary shelter and then flee to Uttarakhand.
This is why UP ATS has been given a central role in the entire multi-state operation.
Broader Perspective & Additional Intelligence Inputs
The use of medical professionals for terror operations indicates a disturbing trend—well-educated individuals being radicalised and mobilised.
Female recruitment for terror activity is being treated as a major security concern, as it indicates an evolving strategy to evade law enforcement scrutiny.
Intelligence agencies suspect that the network may also have had sleeper modules involved in fund transfers, medical cover, and cross-border communication.
The multi-state probe is expected to widen further in the coming days as more digital evidence is extracted and cross-verified.
