Terror Module Crackdown: Five Arrested in Two Days Across Multiple States

0

In a significant breakthrough against terror-linked activities, the Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested five individuals from different states within the last 48 hours for their suspected involvement in planning anti-India operations.

This comes as part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown aimed at dismantling terror modules believed to be inspired by extremist ideologies.

According to senior officials, the latest arrests took place on Thursday when three suspects were apprehended from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.

Their interrogation is currently underway, and police teams are conducting coordinated raids across multiple states to trace more individuals linked to the network. Officials confirmed that a few more people have also been detained for questioning.

The arrests follow Wednesday’s operation in which two men were taken into custody — Aaftab from Delhi and Ashar Danish from Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Later the same day, another suspect, identified as Abu Bakr alias Sufiyan, was also arrested in Delhi. With Thursday’s developments, the total number of individuals nabbed in connection with the case has now risen to five.

Explosives and Materials Seized

During the raids, the police recovered a range of items that indicate preparations for large-scale attacks.

Among the seized materials were copper sheets, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sodium bicarbonate, sulphur powder, ball bearings, laboratory beakers, safety gloves, respiratory masks, plastic boxes containing strip wires, as well as electronic components such as circuits, motherboards, and diodes.

Investigators suspect that the accused were attempting to assemble Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with the recovered substances.

Preliminary questioning suggests that the group was planning to carry out blasts in multiple cities, including Delhi and its surrounding NCR region.

Suspected Terror Links

Officials have stated that the suspects are believed to be connected with the AQIS (Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent) network and may have also drawn inspiration from global terror organizations such as ISIS and the intelligence operatives of ISI. However, their exact links and command structure are still being investigated.

A senior police officer said, “The interrogation is ongoing, and further details about their objectives and handlers will be shared once we have concrete information.

At this stage, we can confirm that their activities were directed towards executing terror strikes on Indian soil.”

Past Incidents Show Pattern

This is not the first time that such modules have been exposed. In August last year, the Special Cell carried out massive raids across Delhi, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.

That operation resulted in the arrest of six individuals and the detention of eight others, all suspected of working on plans to execute attacks inspired by Al-Qaeda.

The latest arrests indicate that despite continuous efforts by security agencies, terror outfits continue to attempt regrouping and radicalizing vulnerable individuals to further their agenda against India.

The police and intelligence agencies are therefore maintaining heightened vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents.
