*WE THE JUNIOR DOCTORS OF EVERY COLLEGE OF WEST BENGAL ARE FURIOUS about what happened at R.G.Kar hospital!*
The following sequence of events have happened :
After the Pan West Bengal General Body Meeting we did a joint press statement. We said that none of our demands have been met! So we will continue our fight for Justice!
*WE CLARIFIED that We are in ceasework because WE ARE SCARED!* Because our sister was brutally raped and murdered on duty! And the investigation done by Kolkata Police was clearly questionable at best.
We also clarified, NO EMERGENCY and OPD service has been shut down. Only we the Junior Doctors are on ceasework as we don’t feel safe yet. Senior faculties are running the services everywhere.
But with utter shock and despair, we found out that the respected CM in open press claimed that the doctors have protested long enough and they should now stop their ceasework. We believe, we are not even inching closer to justice particularly in light of the incidents yesterday.
We saw an overwhelming response from all corners of Bengal. People have shown their active participation to seize the midnight of 15th August! Reclaiming the night of independence day, All Bengal Cried for Justice for our colleague ABHAYA!
In the same spirit, The female doctors and students of RG KAR were preparing to take out a march when a huge mob attacked R.G.Kar Emergency Gate. They broke the Gate and entered the hospital in large numbers in hospital. They vandalised the protest site, emergency gates, Gynae wards, ENT wards. Doctors, Patients, Patient relatives were beaten. Stone pelting was done! Various parts of campus were put on fire. Everyone ran and hid to save their lives. Nursing staffs got rape threats!
Meanwhile, Kolkata Police literally stood as passive spectators to this whole fiasco.
IT WAS CLEARLY A PLANNED and POLITICALLY MOTIVATED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY to threaten our movement and induce FEAR amongst everyone who seeks justice!*
The Police Commissioner outrageously claimed that they have done everything in their power for the investigation. (When the Honourable High Court clearly pointed out their failure ar every step of investigation.)
About the barbaric mob attack he claimed it was a result of a smear campaign against Kolkata Police. But it is clear that it was an act of intimidation against the whole movement for justice.
WE STRONGLY CONDEMN ANY ATTEMPTS TO SILENCE THE PROTESTORS!
*WE STAND WITH* everyone who was *ATTACKED* yesterday at *R.G.Kar MCH*! The protesting doctors, The nurses and every other common people and attendants of the patients.
As it is evident at this juncture this movement has the support of the whole nation, *WE WILL NOT BACK OFF* from our rightful demands and would carry out peaceful protest march!
And annunce further course of action.
